What I was looking for was a mount that was flexible both in terms of the orientation of the device and the placement on the dash. I also needed to be able to charge while it was in the mount, and that the device would not bounce around too much. A note here - apparently I'm a lot more sensitive to the shaking of the display than lots of people, because I haven't found very many mounts that will hold the screen reasonably steady. I've gone through a lot of mounts and I think I've tried all of the different types: dashboard / weight mounts, air vent, cup holder w/ arm, cd slot mounts and window suction cup mounts. Inside every category you'll find good and bad builds, but generally the shorter the distance from whatever is holding the phone and the mount point, the better off you're going to be in terms of stability (a cupholder mount with arm was about the worst) - but getting right next to the mount point usually costs flexibility in terms of the device orientation (you can't switch between landscape and portrait mode). The best balance of all my requirements was the vent mount. Latching onto the vents was a stable base (vs. a cd slot which was wobbly or a stick-anywhere mount which came unglued after a while). There are enough vents in cars to give you some flexibility in terms of where you put it, and they're all generally at the right eye-level (you don't have to look down to see it). I went through ~5 vent mounts before I ran across this one which is the best I've found. The grippers are solid and work well. It's one of the only vent mounts I've used where you could pull the device straight off without pulling the vent mount out, as opposed to sliding it off to one side or the other. Still a good practice to slide off so you don't damage your vents. The arm is short so it's stable, and there's a pivot so you can spin the device around easily. If you like vent mounts just buy this one, just remember if you have cheap vents don't pull it directly off. ... show more

I've used many of the clamp style vent mount cell phone holders, and none of them have held the phone as well as this magnetic mount. The metal plate sticks really well to the phone cover and does not interfere with wireless charging on my Samsung Note 20. This one also clips onto the vent really tightly. One of the nicest things about using this type of mount is that you can position the phone so that it is facing you much easier than the others I have tried. ... show more

This is my 2nd Kenu product. This is a serious improvement over the original which was is great as well. The clips that attach to the vents are better on this one. On the original after some time the rubber pcs that fit over the metal "teeth" can come off. This doesn't have that problem. UPDATE: I contact Kenu, and they stand by their product and the warranty! I've upgraded to 4 stars for a phenomenal customer experience. Less than 10 minutes after I sent my mailing address, they responded with a shipment tracking number. Now that's fast! I'm confident that I will get great use out of this replacement product, as I understand they were ironing out some kinks in an early production batch. These things happen, but it's how a company deals with it that matters. Awesome! -------------------------------------- Worked great until it broke in only 4 months of use. Just driving along, and then one day, one of the clamps just simply loosened and eventually broke off completely. Yes, some break...but you should still buy one. Let me explain, I have owned two of these units for several months and they have both broken. So why buy?...well I believe you learn much more about a company when something breaks and you need support. Every company makes things that require support...not all companies make support experiences valuable. Kenu easily replaced both units and made my support experience very enjoyable. These are by far the best phone car mounts...the magnetic plate is very reliable and strong. The unit stays snug in the vent. Kenu says the early versions of this unit had a defect but current versions work fine. So far the replacement units sent me have been working great! ... show more

I purchased this for my wife. I have been a long time user of Kenu products and stand by their quality and effectiveness. I had originally purchased the non-magnetic version where the phone slides within the holder, however, my wife's Acura had recessed vents which caused a number of issues with the design of the other product (nothing wrong with the product itself) just was not compatible. I then purchased this magnetic version and it is so great I am ordering one for myself. The magnet works through her hardshell case and is super strong. Takes about 5 second to attach the phone and makes placing and removing the phone super easy. I highly recommend this for anyone, especially if you have recessed vents in your car or the other version doesn't work for you. This makes using your phone for directions super easy and accessible. ... show more

So far,so good. I have had a Kenu airframe for years but I started seeing these magnetic versions and had to give it a go. I love it! It’s easier to use than the airframe. I travel often for work and rent cars so I just tuck it in my bag. I am a little concerned about durability as I noted some negative reviews but it seems fine thus far. I think it would be great if they came in colors as I have left thing like this in rental vehicles because they blend right in with the air vent. ... show more
