I got this thinking it would be good to use with my pugs who shed a lot. It is going to take a while for them to get used to it and the noise. I do wish it had a little more suction, as I hoped it would get more hair, but I have not used it on the highest level yet as my pugs get used to it.

I have a 120lb American Akita so this probably isn't really made for a dog this big with this much fur. It is quiet and he doesn't mind it at all but the suction isn't what I expected and the container is on the smaller size. I would recommend this for medium sized dogs for sure. But not a 120lb dog blowing coat. It does work and takes practice I just expected more for the pricepoint. ... show more

We have a long-haired dog who is the essence of high-maintenance when he's blowing coat. He is also a big ol' wimp when it comes to scary noises, like clippers or a vacuum. We are also huge fans of positive experiences when training (AKA treat pushers). So to acclimated him to the vacuum we started on low and gave him a treat. Went slow, etc. And this bad boy was a hit with our doggo!! The suction isn't so strong that it pulls on the hair excessively, it's actually pretty mild in comparison to a regular carpet vacuum. Because it's not super powerful, my dog actually doesn't mind it at all! The trimmers are a major selling point for me. I have been hand trimming with scissors because my dog can't handle other electric trimmers. We have tried probably 10 different trimmers and he just can't handle the sound of them. But he handles this fine!! What used to take me over an hour now takes me about 15-20 minutes. HUGE time saver for us!! Also of note, if you start this up and haven't read the manual you'll think it's too quiet and not powerful enough. Fear not, there are 3 speeds, you just need to know how to access them. I deducted a star because the attachments aren't what you'd expect for a $150 machine, they're kinda flimsy. ... show more

    • It takes some practice, but it is a good kit
The whole kit is pretty good. Even I had seen people use it before, it take some practice to get used to. I have used it for almost two months, finally getting a hang of it. Some disadvantages are the suction power and container size. I wish the suction power is a bit stronger and the container is bigger. I've tried several dog grooming vacuums. This one is pretty good. There are several things I like about this one. It has cord storage. It comes with a storage bag. The hose has latches on both ends (this is a nice feature!). The vacuum tool is a little different on this one than others I've tried. It has a different style of vacuum tool (no bristles). The brush deshed tool works well. It also has another thicker tooth tool which works great on thicker coats.
