To start with I'll tell you what kind of dog I have, I have a standard poodle. Her hair will start twisting at a quarter of an inch and if she's allowed to grow to an inch she'll actually have the beginning of dreadlocks. So it's not an easy coat to cut. I've groomed dogs for a lot of years and the best Clipper I ever used was an Oster motor driven Clippers with interchangeable blades, it lasted forever and it was easy to use. However it's also extremely expensive, back when I bought it it was close to $300. I've tried a lot of Clippers since then most with little to no success. When I saw this Clippers I read through a lot of the reviews which were mixed but it was a moderately priced Clipper so I thought what the heck let's give it a try. I have to say I was extremely surprised and pleased with this Clippers. It cut through my dog's coat with ease it did not pull, or tangle in the blades. Using just the blade without the guards you get a clean cut, rather like a 10 blade or a surgical blade. In other words if you're on familiar with the terminology the dog is basically naked, which is what I used on her face and feet and it worked super well. For her body I use the 3mm guide and it left very short hair and was easy to use. The blade snap in firmly do not wiggle or become loose. I had read some of the reviews at the guide slipped off, I can't help but wonder if that person didn't actually snap the guide into place firmly. I had no trouble at all with the guide. Another big plus to this Clippers was the blade did not get hot, the instructions say it is a ceramic blade which would understandably be why the blade not get hot. I was very impressed. My only suggestion for anyone buying this Clippers is if you are unfamiliar how to use a Clippers with a close cut or a blade take some time and familiarize yourself with how to use a clippers. Because of the close blade if you hold that Clippers at the wrong angle you will get too close to the skin, and if you're using a guide and you don't know how to use a guide the hair will not cut well. But that's with any Clippers not just this one. So like I said take some time watch a few videos on how to hold and use a Clippers and I think you will be very satisfied with this product. I am. I have a sheepdog/poodle who ends up with very long hair and these have cut right through them. I had a hard time finding an affordable pair of clippers for dogs with long hair, and was pleasantly surprised with these. The only thing that would make these absolutely perfect, if they were cordless because my dog is antsy! lol. When I received the item it was defective didn’t turn on but I was able to return it and quickly following day I received the second item . The machine worked like a champ and very easy to use . It is not loud my dog stayed still and was not scared while I was trimming her fur.

I have had this trimmer for about a year now: I have two furry lab poodle mixes and they take a bit of work to groom. I have a few of the cordless trimmers which work pretty well but I have to stop and blow out the blades periodically. This one is no difference but does have unlimited power supply with the coord. The coord is long enough to get out of the way. And the noise is typical for a trimmer which my dogs are used to now. The power/torque between this one and the battery operated ones are comparable this trades off the coord less convenience for even power supply with coord. The blade is ok but does get clogged periodically. I use the oil prior to starting and have to push off the blade from the housing and blow out the hair once or twice during grooming per dog. It's easy to do just grip the body from the 'backside' and push agaisnt the plastic blade housing away from the trimmer. A little force and titl pop off without damage. Line up the rotating pin from the motor to center and then the bottom of the blade housing has a small tab to line up in the bottom. After lining up the tab and the pin push on the blade housing towards the trimmer housing until it snaps into place. Good overall trimmer that pays for itself in first use. A little less power than I need for thick curls but I can work through them slowly. The next power rating up is the dog/horse sheers but I need a 9mm hair length and not sure they have those. ... show more
