First, we have two Shitzsu pups, both rescues. Younger one always never liked grooming, and groomer had complained that he was fighting her. I decided that I want to cut his hair. I've been doing this to older one for years, using cheap clipper. I wanted good clipper to make it easy on me and Mookie. I read many reviews of many different clippers. It was hard to decide. There are so many of them, and so many different opinions. I chose Bravura due to reports of it running cool, quiet, and being cordless. So First I tried it on Teddy. Oh my!! What a difference. This thing is very sharp, cuts super easy. It runs almost completely cool. It is not silent, but it buzzes a little bit. Not bad at all. Quieter than some corded ones. It is very light, and so easy to use without fighting the cord. SO it took half the time or less to cut Teddy's hair. I used one of provided combs. Bravura had no problem at all, even when going trough some matted hair (our pups get mats around arm pits, and chest). After maybe 45 min, maybe little more battery was still at 2 bars. I started other dog, Mookie. Again, I was very happy with performance, and what's best, he did not mind!! I guess he was more comfortable with me than groomer :) After all, it took about two full charges to cut two dogs hair (13 and 18 lbs Shihtzsu/Shihpoo) And really, clipper did not stop, I just decided to stop when battery was almost discharged. To sum this up. Goods: 1. Powerful 2. Sharp - very easy to cut, and cuts very well 3. Runs cool 4. Quiet, not silent, but not annoying. 5. Comes with different lengths combs (plastic) 6. Light 7. Will run when when connected to provided power supply 8. I like battery level indicator Bads: Really, nothing. Kinda expensive, but after using it only once, IT WAS VERY MUCH WORTH IT!!! Things to remember: Clean the blades often, and oil them. (Small bottle of oil provided, but can buy bigger one for $4-5 where hair clippers are sold) ... show more

I am not a total beginner but this clipper is very helpful. I also bought the stainless steel guards which slide very nicely through the coat. I am always timid to clean the private areas but I did ok, very gently. The legs are also a challenge but the smallest comb on .07 setting did a great job and kept me from having to scissor cut. After an hour I still had 4 bars and the blade wasn't hot. The device is not very loud. This is a great tool for Shih Tzus because they have a lot of fluffy hair, which some clippers don't cut too well. This is my 3rd clipper (different models). The last one died. Great Product & Great Manufacturers Customer Service. We purchased these and used them a few weeks after purchase and the plastic platform that the blade sits on broke during the third use. We couldn't return because we passed the Amazon return time so we contacted the manufacturer directly. They happily shipped us another whole blade which is what the plastic platform is attached to. Not only that but its comes with a fine blade which is awesome and worked well but my husband asked if they would send the Pro blade as the replacement and they agreed without hesitation........ that is really nice! So for the trimmers themselves..... the battery lasted cutting 10 puppies faces and 2 adults before needing to be put on the charger..... it wasnt dying as it was still going but I was taking a break and put it on since I was taking a break. The blade never not one time got hot at all, this is huge because I have a corded Andis Professional Clipper and the blades get super super hot within a few mins which makes you have to have multiple of each size to swap out until the other cools. So great job Wahl for actually giving us what you say! For the comments that these do not cut poodles is the biggest BS! I have 3 very large Standard Poodles and the Wahl Bravura 5-1 cuts very nicely, if it isnt cutting for you it is because you did not blow out the undercoat, and brush out ALL the mats from your dog........ the most important part of a great clip & having your clippers work at a high level is having a clean, completely brushed out dog. You cannot expect any clipper to make up for not brushing your dog. Also....... if you use any blade on a dirty dog, and that means any dog that was not just cleaned & blown out right before clipping them, you WILL dull out the blades almost within 10 seconds of using them, although my husband used these clippers on our 11 faces without pre-cleaning them and I was freaking out thinking he just ruined the blade an it was still cutting like new, with my Andis blades they would've been completely dull within the fist 3 strokes. Hope this helps since I am very picky and I will attach a picture of our Mr Romeo after his cut, keep in mind there is also a lot of scissor work too. ... show more
