We have a long-haired cat with occasional matting and previous (cheaper) trimmers we'd tried couldn't handle the fine dense fur. Splurged for these buying the hype of "professional-grade" and they are clearly much more capable without being any noisier. If anything they might be quieter as the moving parts are likely designed with better tolerances. The one concern is the first set we bought broke within a week due to the little camshaft that drives the oscillating blade breaking. We could hear the motor going but the blades didn't respond. We could hear something rattling inside and popped the head off, and indeed it was no longer connected. We returned / replaced it and our second set has been great, but it's such a small and weak failure point that it leaves me concerned as to whether they'll have the longevity to match the price. ... show more
