  • So happy with this instrument!
I am picking music back up after 20 years. My instrument of choice has been the Ukulele. Tons of fun! This UBass is a different cat, but still just as cool. Very nice setup and well built. Sounds great acoustically and through an amp. I'm just learning Bass, but this instrument has made the experience a lot of fun! This has Aquila Thunderblack Synthetic Bass Ukulele strings. Funky and fun! ... show more

  • Better than advertised
I had the Journeyman with the round wound strings which was good enough to steal, apparently, so I replaced it with this one. I’m surprised to find I prefer these strings, and that you can play around its limitations and produce a recordable sound without too much trouble. Easy to play, arthritis friendly ... show more

  • Buen bajito para su precio
The media could not be loaded. ... show more

  • Much smaller than it appears
Its a very small bass guitar, its more of a bass ukulele. Its only 29 inches long in comparison to some of the full size bass guitars and bass acoustic guitars at like 40-46 inches overall. I wish there were more pictures of it in an adults hands on the website, I would have saved myself having to send it back because it was too small in my hands. If you are looking for a full size bass guitar, this is NOT the instrument for you. ... show more

  • Bottoms Up…
In Honolulu we say okole maluna (oh-koh-lay mah-loo-nah) as a drinking toast or “Bottoms Up”. Interesting and portable concept with the ubass. The rubber thunderblack strings are a riot. Yup- they’re noisy and it seems baby powder (a la Jeff Beck) helps with sticky string noise. Make sure to adjust the EQ with more emphasis on the bass and mid range. Excessive treble (highs) will only make string noise worse. Jury’s still out on the string height- reviews have cautioned that shaving the bridge saddle could result in more string rattle/buzzing. A plus is the thunderblacks are soft, so the overall action’s not so bad. May try the thunder red strings which are lower tension, though reportedly they have snapped with wear. Maybe a slight nut notch lowering will help- will ask my guitar tech. Will try the ubass at my next gig and see. ... show more

  • Fantastic little bass
What a shocker! This bass sounds fine acoustically, if a little thin and quiet. Plugged in, it becomes a tiny powerhouse, with deep, solid round sound that is easily good enough for recording or gigging. I expext that this is just the first of these to make it into my collection.
