  • Juki is my new favorite brand-both my serger and my sewing machine
I have used this machine for several months now. I really like it. It is relatively quiet, and it operates very easily and sews very evenly too. I had it up and running in less than an hour out of the box. The settings are pretty intuitive once you understand the little graphic icons and what they mean. The button holes it makes are wonderful. The appliqué stitches are even and easy to select. I like that they can be adjusted for size. I have not had to adjust tension for anything, leaving it on the "Auto" setting. The presser foot that raises slightly when stopping with the needle down makes turning the fabric a breeze. You don't have to use one had to raise the lever so you can keep both hands on the project. The multi-function foot control is my favorite feature! I have it set to cut the thread when I push on the rear of it. This saves so much time when doing lots of sewing. I have a shop on Etsy and have been busy making cotton drawstring project bags. My new Juki has saved me lots of time and made sewing even more fun. I highly recommend this machine. The automatic threader works well and consistently. Follow what the manual tells you to do: Line up the hand wheel on the side with the notch on the machine and pull the lever slowly-don't be in a rush and don't force it. If you do that, it will thread the needle very easily. The other places where thread can be cut-on the bobbin winder, on the bobbin case and on the side of the machine for the auto threader, all work very very easily. The only "con" is the bobbin. The automatic bobbin winder works well, but it clicks "off" with the bobbin only about 2/3 full. Bummer. When doing lots of sewing, that means stopping to refill a bobbin. Even though the bobbin can be wound with its own separate motor, I have to stop sewing to do that. ... show more

  • Love my Juki DX7
CraftyGemini recommended the Juki DX5. I bought the DX7 because it had a couple more features, but both are exceptionally awesome. Communicated with a person from World Weidner - Machine Embroidery Supplies and that Rep was super informative, patient, and answered all my questions. Love that the juki has a self cutter, runs quietly and smoothly, easy to operate, fast, has a self threader, a foot that automatically lifts up when you stop so you can use two hands to move your fabric and love the price. The Bernina that I originally looked at was $6000.00. My juki sewing machine arrived fast considering there were no sewing machine available on Oahu. The only reason I gave four stars for beginners is because the DX5 would probably be better choice for people just learning to sew. No matter what, be sure to purchase it from an authorized dealer for warranty purposes. Sad to say that after a couple of days, I realized the panel was broken. Emailed World Weidner - Machine Embroidery Supplies and without a question the rep told me to return it. The great news is they quickly gave me a full refund. I ordered a second one and so far it hasn’t disappointed me. The machine runs like butter. I would not want any other sewing machine besides my juki, it’s great for the price and even better than any high end brands out there. Highly recommended. Month later; I love my juki even more. Stitches over thick fabric and makes sewing fun. ... show more

  • Broke within 6 months and Juki warranty terrible. Don't buy Juki.
This is the first time I spent so much on a machine. I'm a well seasoned sewer, been sewing for 30 years. After merely 4 months major issues began. The bobbin case become loose and then jammed, which then messed up the timing on the machine. I reached out to Juki and the warranty does not include labor ,only parts. Well, most of the time it's labor that needs to be paid for with sewing machine issues, so don't even bother with the scam of a warranty #1 (oh wait I mean #2, because #1 is don't even bother to purchase the overpriced and underperforming Juki machines). So, back to the Juki warranty guys. I went back and forth with their service team for over a week, then they offered for me to mail it from CA to Florida (shipping NOT paid!). I mean seriously, like the machine really needs shipping across the US to add to it's problem. So, after no help from the service guys and ludicrous back and forth with no resolve and no acknowledgment that the machine broke way way too early for no reason other than being faulty. I then took it to a local shop and they warned me about Juki's and said these machines are always in the shop. They fixed the timing. Then again this week, the initial issue started up again, the bobbin case loose again and now it's running very loud. I really don't even know what to do because It feels like Ground Hog day and that I wasted an enormous amount of money without even having a machine that works, and no option to return. Hey JUKI or AMAZON I want a refund! This is absurd. Or a new machine! I've had $200 Kenmore's that I never even tuned up and they never broke. Why the heck did I even bother buying an expensive machine. Such a joke. Give me my money back! ... show more

  • THE WAITING IS OVER
I have an industrial Juki walking foot machine with needle positioning that I use for leather and suede and that I really love. It has that quiet power and confidence of a beautifully-designed piece of equipment. Working with lighter fabrics with my Bernina was ok but I felt like I was using a homemaker machine without the smoothness and control of the big one. The larger Bernina machines have not gotten good press and I love my serger that Juki makes as well, so I decided on the DX7. It came today and was a great choice. They have obviously incorporated their industrial know-how into this consumer model. It sews quietly and beautifully. The thread cutter is convenient and the needle threader even works! Buttonholes are a breeze and the controls are very visual and intuitive. I love the multi-function pedal and it comes with lots of accessories including a generous work table and a knee lift. Bravo! ... show more
