I have wanted to add a fireplace for a long time but just didn't want to spend the money it usually costs to get one of these. I ordered this and am very pleased with it! The flames while maybe not the most realistic in the world look fine as far as I am concerned. If you look at the pictures they show multiple colored flames. You don't get all the colors at once as shown but you can scroll through those colors for the upper flames. For the log and embers (bottom display) you can choose from yellow or red. So again maybe not the absolute most realistic flames but they do look good and I am very happy with this unit. As for a heater it does a very good job so no complaints there. This is installed in a basement where it is often cool even in the summer so this will be used year round. The unit feels well made so hopefully it can hold up to high use for a long time! I really love that I can have the flames with or without the heat turned on. I plan to just leave them on as I love the effect and it will also provide a little light at night in an otherwise very dark room. Really happy with this fireplace and for the price am very impressed at this point. Hopefully this continues to provide years of use! ... show more

This sets a nice mood, especially if you no longer want the mess of a wood burning fireplace or the danger of a stray spark. Of course itโ€™s not going to totally look real but very close to it! Iโ€™m using a screen in front of mine that has magnetic doors that open out to help give it that woodsy look. I have not tried the heat yet because I donโ€™t have it placed inside my fireplace yet because I have an A/C unit currently vented out through the flu. Iโ€™m a bit feeble and needed help to carry in the box because it weighs more than 60 pounds but is a nice sturdy unit. ... show more
