The pedal sounds great. If your give it clean power, it runs without any noise at all. The sweep of mid frequencies is relatively limited. So, it doesn't go as low or as high frequency as some pedals might, but that means the control is easy to dial in because it's consistent and not 'touchy'. The exact circuit is present on the PG-13 pedal, but that pedal doesn't have the toggle switch and it isn't as spooky. Man I love that ghost logo. 👻 ... show more

    • Useful pedal, not quite as dynamic as a full EQ.
I'm using this as a mid cut for a mid-heavy amp. I ran the Mercury Magnetics modifications on a 5 watt Fender Champion 600 and it worked well for loudness and crunch, but it de-Fendered the tone quite a bit. This pedal helps reclaim most of the Fender Chime lost in the mod. It works OK but isn't a huge adjustment like my 10-band MXR EQ pedal which died recently. Needs more DB of adjustment and a sweepable knob for the Q adjustment (rather than a switch) would be better. If I had it to do over I would probably go with the MXR again because it is cheaper and has more adjustment. ... show more

    • Improve the tone of your guitar !
I bought this pedal as a parametric equalizer. For that application it is superb! I placed it in different spots of my signal chain, and I got the best results right after my compressor pedal, 2nd in the chain. It really brightens the tone, and gives humbuckers more clarity. With single coils it gives a great boost, and brings my tele sound from great to fantastic! Now it's also described as a pre-amp; I didn't find it very useful for that application. It was rather noisy, and just didn't seem to have the same impact. Of course, you can go for mid scooped tones, by cutting the mids out, but that's not my cup of tea . Like all JHS pedals, it's well built and high quality. The packaging and presentation are also great, as you get a large sticker, a JHS pin, and a Gravity pick. This now resides on my pedal board. Would an EQ pedal be more versatile? Maybe so but this does exactly what I want it to do! I'm not going to be bending over and adjusting it for different songs.... I found a sweet spot in the settings and it stays there! I wanted something that would cut through the mix when I step on it ..... it gives it that extra mid range push with a little boost. I'm not sure how much boost there is but it's sufficient. Read about it if it's important to you. Sometimes I just leave it on for the saturation and those Haunting Mids ... show more

    • Great semi-parametric EQ pedal
Great pedal. It's doing exactly what I expected. For the next version I would wish it had a dedicated Q-knob instead of the HI/LO dip switch for the two fixed Q-factors. The other thing is that I would personally like some indications of frequencies on the sweep knob. It seems to be highly non-linear so it would great to know in which ballpark you are when you are playing with the 'sweep' knob. Besides that, the quality of the pedal is flawless. ... show more
