  • Great basic info and beyond
The book is really great about how to freeze things safely. It also has the basic how to freeze certain foods and then goes beyond with some really great 'prep' recipes that you can use to quickly elevate almost any meal. Great tips too. I have done a freezer inventory as they suggested and it changes the whole experience on 'what's in the freezer'. ... show more

  • Can you tell we are excited! This Cornell Hotel School graduate gives it 5 stars!
After loving her first book, "Poole's," we just knew we had to get her next book. We are not sorry. We love to cook. Well my husband loves to cook more than I do, but I love to eat his cooking. We love the layout of this book. I eat more poultry/seafood and he eats more beef/pork and all of these are covered. There are lots of vegetarian options as well as soups and salads. So many recipes. So many desserts. Lots of alcoholic drinks too which was a bonus! I love the pictures too. The women take the time to explain why they do what they do. I feel like I am in the kitchen with them when I am reading this book. I am ready to empty my freezer and get it ready for all the yummy stocks, oh and definitely the "biscuit dumplings." So I strongly encourage you to buy this book. My biker husband loves it, I love it, and all the people at work I showed it to love it. They also love the Poole's Cookbook by Ashley Christensen. Gotta end this...getting hungry, gonna see what is in my freezer! ... show more

  • Chef it up!
Like others, this was not what I expected, but for me it was more. It has ways to plan ahead and make the recipes extraordinary by using special gourmet components you have made ahead and frozen. For each special component there are a handful of recipes. Just what I was hoping for!

  • Nice, but…
The book had a few helpful tips, but it’s mostly filled with recipes. Grant it, the recipes came with freezing tips, but I was hoping for more help with the science behind freezing things so I could freeze my own recipes properly.

  • A crash course in freezers
I bought this book as I wanted to prepare some freezer meals before my first child is born this summer. But I know absolutely nothing about preparing foods to be frozen, and have nothing in my freezer except raw things and microwave meals. This book is not just recipes for meals you can freeze (or recipes for meals you can make with various frozen components), but it is also a complete crash course in freezing itself. What does and doesn't freeze well, why that is so, how long things will last, how to store things in the freezer, how to defrost them, literally anything you could want to know. So now while I have these recipes, I also have the knowledge to find or adapt other recipes that I can freeze. So glad I bought this book! ... show more
