  • Excellent
I purchased this to install T&G boards on my new ceiling. This worked well and I was impressed with the quality of the device.

  • Not for heavy warping
This item is decent. It works well to push decking boards together for a tight fit. It feels pretty hefty and seemed durable, however, if you have to tighten it hard, it warps pretty easily. For this reason, I can't recommend this for heavily warped boards. When attempting to push them, the clamp pushes itself back on the joist instead of pushing the decking board. Overall, the clamp works for the most part, but it fails when used on heavily warped boards. Paired with the high cost, I can't recommend this item unless you have extra money and do a lot of decking. ... show more

  • Well made tool but a little hard to use
I ordered this tool to aid in the installation of a new composite decking at my home. The tool itself is very nice quality with a chrome finish and well fitting lead screws as part of the clamping mechanisms. On the plus side the design of the tool is perfect for use when installing hidden fastener decking. The deck board "pusher is offset from the joist so you can install the hidden fastener clip while the board is being pushed into place. It also has the advantage of only applying just the amount of pressure you need to get the board lined up or snapped into the previous you of clips. This means less damage to the composite decking during installation as compared to using a hammer and block to pound the boards into place. On the negative side, the clamp screw that is used to push or bend the board into place is close to the joist when the tool is installed making it cumbersome to tighten since you have to keep sliding the cross handle from side to side every time it hits the joist. Be sure to back out the screw before you clamp it to the joist. Also be sure to snug it against the deck board before you tighten it to the joist this will save you a few turns of the screw handle when pushing the deck board into position. ... show more

  • Overpriced but works well
This is a very well designed and well made 90 degree dual clamp that does exactly what it claims to do…it’s a great concept that definitely beats the old temporary board and pry bar method of straightening deck boards for installation. Every part is durably made with high quality materials and the angled weld is a great design choice that gives this a lot of added grab strength. That said, the design limits its use to 90 degree deck board layouts and they should consider some sort of spiked texturing on the joist clamp to prevent slippage. There’s also no way this costs more than $20-25 dollars to mass produce (and that’s being very generous with cushioning the raw materials costs for inflation) so a $59 selling price comes across as a bit greedy, in my opinion. If the design is patented, I get it but that would only further my point…if it’s not, they need to come down on the price for their own sake (you know, the whole “stay competitive” concept). It’s definitely a solid 4-4.5 star product that works very well but I wouldn’t actually pay $59 for it when there are so many other methods and/or more versatile tool options out there that can accomplish the same thing and more. ... show more

  • So disappointing
Well I sure don't see any nuts welded to the ends. That was a selling point to me. Wow. I'm so disappointed. If your not looking for that extra torque then you'll be okay.!

  • A good extra hand if you are working on a deck alone.
I would say that this is a good clamp to have around in addition to the lever type deck tool. This is a little slower to use than a lever type board bender, but a good extra hand to have around if you are working on decking by yourself.

  • Be careful with how tight this tool can push
I don't build docks on a regular basis but I do know how because I grew up with my grandparents who pretty much build their own house over the years. Well, this tool quickly gets my attention because my brother is working on building a patio deck lately and I got this tool to go help him with. Normally with two sets of hands, building a deck is already quite easy as long as we are able to synchronize our work and get all the boards aligned and nailed down. However, I figured to bring all the possible assisting tools I can pull out of my garage to help cut down the work. So here is my observation: This tool seems to be well built. At first glance the metal seems a bit slim, but on bending areas it does come with a supporting rib to strengthen the possible bending plate. I'll say, this is a minimally optimized tool for deck alignment. The surface finish for this tool is superb; the paint job is well done and there don't seem to be any sharp edges or burrs which are witness marks of a bad craftsmanship. So these are some big pluses. On actually using the tool, I'll say this tool is best used under a one-man job setting. Honestly speaking, with me and my brother on each deck board, we're much quicker to use a shim spacer and just hold things by hand and use some nail guns to push the nails in, then move onto the next board. Where as to utilize this tool, it takes two different turn knobs to don the deck board and after nailing, counter turn the two knobs to release it. If I am to do it on my own, yeah that'll make sense because no one is on the other end to help push the board in. Anyway, this is not a bad tool, but depending on your work setting, if you're short handed, this is definitely your helping hand to hold the deck board down. No real complaints, so 5-stars from my end. ... show more

  • Insaga Board Bender Saved Me Time and Effort in Straightening boards
As a homeowner, I was struggling with the task of straightening the warped and bowed boards on my deck. But then I came across the Insaga Heavy Steel Deck Board Straightening Tool, and it's been a game-changer for me! The build quality is top-notch, and the tool is made of heavy-duty steel with a smooth welding and silver coating, making it strong and durable for long-lasting use. I already have one of the orange pry bar type board straighteners, but it can be a pain to apply enough pressure with one hand, holding it still and driving a couple of screws. This is where the insaga board bender wins out. It is so easy to use. Once it is tightened down, it holds steady to get a few screws down the length of the board. I do find it helps to have a short hollow bar to gain some leverage on the tommy bolts. The tool holds the board tightly in place, allowing me to keep both hands free for nailing, and it saves me so much time and effort compared to traditional methods. There's no need for assembly, and it's portable, so I can use it even in tight spaces. It has a very sturdy construction, and an extremely nice finish. I'm really impressed with the adjustability of the tool, as it can fit thick board thicknesses, which allows for precise straightening of boards of different thicknesses. It's perfect for use on decks, stairs, docks, and more. It can be used in small stair tread assemblies where the big pry bar just doesn't fit. Overall, I'm thrilled with the quality and functionality of the Insaga Deck Board Bending Tool. It's been a huge help in straightening my deck boards and making the installation process quick and easy. I highly recommend this tool to any homeowner or DIY enthusiast looking to simplify the task of bending and straightening deck boards. ... show more
