  • Seek Reveal Pro is a solid IR camera at a good price.
I don't think you can beat the price/performance combination of this IR camera. If you are looking at the IR pixel count, this device is 1/3rd the price of other IR cameras. There are lower priced cameras and higher performance cameras. But for my home inspection business, this device works great. It fits in my pocket, charges over USB and I can download pictures like any other digital camera. Turn-on time was about 6seconds and the 3 buttons for navigation are easy enough to learn. Yes it is sort of like an older style GPS but it is fairly rugged, fits in the hand, and it works. The pointing forward format is fine though takes a little getting used to. In some directions, like up and down it can be easier than the pistol grip format I also have a FLIR TG165, and the downside of that device is that it is very large and the carrying case is even larger compare to the SEEK Reveal Pro. So I would recommend this device to anyone looking for a mid-performance IR camera ... show more

  • It's real nice to stand in the attic and find termite hot ...
The RevealPRO is well made and has high resolution. It is well suited for home or industrial inspection as well as outdoors camping. It will allow you to view an animal hundreds of feet away, with surprising clarity, in total darkness, or a den of termites chewing your wood structure. It's real nice to stand in the attic and find termite hot spots without having to traverse the attic. It's a tad cumbersome with only three buttons to control it, but that's the trade off for the reasonable price. I only give it 4 stars because this unit is only packaged with a lanyard strap and usb cable. It does not have an instruction booklet nor does it come with the usb wall charger. Since I have multiple old usb chargers lying about, this was not a problem. ... show more

  • ... even with some of the limitations mentioned this is perfect for my needs
Some of the previous reviews do have valid points but even with some of the limitations mentioned this is perfect for my needs. I purchased to get a better night time view of the outdoors wanting the higher resolution this unit offers over the next step down. I'm not sure how the other one performs but the imaging on this met or has exceeded my expectations. While I was testing this inside I noticed what turned out to be an extra hot wall outlet that needed replaced, never would have found this and could have prevented a fire. I didn't think I would use all the extras this pro version adds but I'm finding this to be a very useful package. Although I was hoping to pay less than retail (why not) I'm so pleased with the product I'm OK not to have. My only real complaints are the brightness setting is too deep in the settings to get to easily and I wish it had auto dimming for the use at night. ... show more

Arrived defective. Image is unusable. There is something wrong with the unit that every second it freezes a frame and overlays it on top of the active image. This makes everything blurry and affects the heat reading. Customer service is unresponsive. ***UPDATE*** customer service has responded to me. Based on the pictures I provided them they believe the shutter is stuck. They have advised the unit needs to be returned. Still awaiting return authorization from seller. ... show more

  • Lots of pixels for the price
The RevealPRO is a somewhat strange combination. It has a very high-performance sensor for the price but is handicapped by a clumsy UI and form factor, and it's missing a critical data storage option. Compared to the FLIR products, the Seek RevealPRO offers you a **much** higher resolution thermal image for the price. Its 77 kilopixel sensor is only available on FLIR products costing at least twice as much. That's a great price point but, this Seek handheld unit has a number of drawbacks that make it a little hard to recommend at the moment: 1. The overall UI and connectivity feel like a past generation. There is no Bluetooth or Wifi so you have to connect a USB cable to retrieve images from the device. And the menu system seems reminds me of late 90s-vintage Garmin GPSs. 2. The form factor only works with targets in front of you. Imaging something below you, like a spot on the ground or an item on a table, requires that you invert the device and hold it out in front of you. It would be great to see a lens that can rotate at least 90° up and down to account for more subject positions. 3. The biggest issue by far is that there is no radiometric image output. Right now you can save an image that either shows a range of colors representing different temperatures, or the same with a bullseye in the center identifying the temperature of the center spot. The problem is that the mapping of color to temperature is not fixed; it changes constantly as you move the camera. Therefore, once you have taken a photo there is no way to determine the temperature of the objects in the photo, as that information is lost as soon as you capture the picture. Seek told me in early February that an upcoming firmware release would allow you to save "radiometric" images, in which each pixel's temperature is stored in the data so you can analyze an entire image after the fact. Until this option is available, however, the RevealPRO can do little more than take "pretty pictures"; at present its use as a scientific device for analyzing leaks and the like is extremely limited. Once the radiometric imaging option is released I will increase my star rating by 1. ... show more

  • I'm glad I waited until this resolution was affordable
First day I brought it to work, it paid for itself. They were trying to find a short on a $1000 PCB Board. They found it, in 5 minutes with this. After searching for 3 days. As mentioned zoom etc. is tedious and lack of WIFI. But it's very nice quality. Feels like magnesium case. It can be awkward at times looking right angle (down) to what it's pointing at. But that's what allows it to slip in your shirt pocket. ... show more
