Yes, these kind of work, but it's not sturdy and the little bolt thing that sits in the door latch is very easily nudged out. They will not keep a dog out. There's quite a few of these out there to be found and honestly these don't offer any anything substantially unique, and the price is about on par. These particular ones work and work as advertised, but the ones I received did not included the little metal peg or nail you use to affix the narrow end of the latch to the door frame. I had to supply my own nail and use that. Not a big deal, but could have sworn I saw one in the pictures so I expected one in the package. Allowed my cat to enter the room we keep his litterbox in so he can use it, but not let the dog in, who for some reason has decided to harass the cat while he's doing his business. So long story short, I think for this kind of product there's nothing that stands out about these, but the price is on par and it does work assuming you get all the parts, so I still recommend it. ... show more

Cute, easy to use, works well. Have one to keep a door open for the cats but keep the preschooler out of the basement. It helps keep the door from being acidentally shut too.
