Description

For a decade now, Ibanez has continued to energize the hollow-body segment with wide range of designs-with everything from rockin' hybrids to straight-up jazz-boxes. The new Expressionist line begins yet another chapter in the Artcore story. The Expressionist difference? Jazz fans will recognize the Ibanez original Super 58 pickups-the preferred pickup of George Benson, Pat Metheny and John Scofield on their own Signature models. A jazz favorite, yes, but as funk guitarist Eric Krasno has been proving, the Super 58s perform well in a variety of situations. Warm, balanced articulation, and excellent response characterize the Super 58 pickups.

  • This is much better than an Epiphone ES335 or a discontinued Washburn HB35
I just got mine today, and it's much better than the other two that I cited above. For one, the fret board is made of ebony. It feels higher quality than my Washburn HB35, which is also a semi-hollow body of the ES335 style. I actually owned a Gibson ES335 that I paid $3,000 for at the Guitar Center (with a 15% off discount), and it had dot inlays and was quite big. It sounded mellow and muffled, and the shape was a bit too big, but otherwise, it was a nice guitar. I can't think of one guitar that's better for me than this guitar that I just got. It sounds much better with more clarity, and has a smaller shape. I'm looking forwards to memories with this guitar. ... show more

  • Beautiful but unplayable.
I really wanted to like this guitar. It's a beautiful instrument and the pickups are fantastic but the guitar has severe fret rattle. No matter what I do I can't get rid of the annoying rattle it makes around the 10th to 12 th frets. I tried everything but to no avail. This makes the instrument practically unplayable for me. It seems that Indonesian quality and control is not up to par for what I paid. A shame. ... show more

  • Absolutely Amazing !
No flaws, gorgeous finish, great action out of the box. Pickups are clear as a bell or howl like a Humbucker should. A fantastic alternative to the legendary Gibson ES-335 at 1/3 the cost. The 2 other guitars I strongly considered were the Epiphone Riviera and the Sire H7, two wonderful guitars; but this Ibanez won by a nose. Played for about 2 hours today, this guitar loves my pedals, am thoroughly satisfied ! ... show more
