  • Instructions SUCK, but the tool is awesome!
Color: Green
I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars for one simple reason: the instructions SUCK. I tossed them out. The biggest problem was that they don't tell you how to properly mount the blade. And since there may be some folks out there unfamiliar with the process, I though I'd take a minute and describe the proper method. First of all there is a round red button on the right hand side that must be depressed to prevent the blade from moving. That will be important after these next steps. REMEMBER: this is a REVERSE threaded machine screw. Right to loosen and left to tighten. Use the hex (Allen) wrench while depressing the red button to release the 2 thick washers, the small thin washer and the spindle screw. Move the blade safety out of the way. The thick, flat washer goes on BEFORE anything else. (Note that each of the thick washers has the word BLADE stamped into it. This tells you which side of the washer should be in contact with the blade. Make sure the large flat washer has the word "blade" facing up. Then settle the blade on the mounting post. Next, take the somewhat beveled thick washer. Place it on the spindle next to the blade with the word "blade" facing down. After that you can mount the screw. Remember to use the small washer; it goes onto the machine screw between the screw head and the thick washer on top.) Slide it on and place the screw. DEPRESS that round red button to keep the assembly from moving. Then use the hex key turning left to tighten. Be sure you crank it down well or your blade will tend to wobble. And that's how it's done! In terms of cutting power - it went through 2x4s (which are actually less than 2" thick) like butter using the rip blade. Smaller toothed blade is for very light jobs. It cut clean and straight. It will feel different from a traditional circular saw but I recommend using it a bit - that feeling will go away with practice. I'm very pleased with the saw! ... show more

  • Excellent addition
Color: Green
Great little saw. It is very easy to use. I don't ask my husband anymore when I need to cut something. I love this! It does work! It's not heavy and setup was quick. Great for small projects. This saw is a must have for anyone looking for an easy to use chainsaw.

  • Handy, powerful saw
Color: Green
Had to replace a built-in refrigerator/freezer and the new unit requires a box 1/2” larger. Figured out how to remove a cabinet panel but still had a panel on the opposite side that was going to obstruct installation. Our regular 7 1/4 circular saw was too heavy, too big and too awkward to cut the panel that needed to be cut. This saw did the trick. It’s still on the heavy side—6+ lbs—but its weight was manageable. It came with 6 blades so I used one of the fine tooth blades and am a very happy camper! One small disappointment was that the mm reading for the depth of the cut is not accurate to rely upon. I was careful so this caused no problem. The other criticism I would note is that there isn’t a clear place to put your second hand if you want to keep two hands on the saw while cutting. I ended up putting my second hand on the escape route for the sawdust. That didn’t feel as safe as I would have liked. If the manufacturer added a knob for the second hand it would be nice. Otherwise, this saw performed as promised and it got me ready for the installation of the new built-in. I bet it will be rare that I bother to pull out the big circular saw again. Thanks, Hychika! ... show more

  • will do its job
Color: Green
The motor is strong enough, the cutting disc is sharp. The problem with these small circular saws is that the cut mark is located on the frame far from the disc, so even if you have a line on the workpiece, the end of the cut goes blind. Another unresolved issue is the locking button for starting the machine. It is placed so impractically that one wonders if it was tested and approved by an alien. Overall: a non-greasy-unsalted saw, as there are many. Reasonable price speaks in favor. ... show more

  • Scary.
Color: Green
Maybe if you're a big guy with strong arms and a lot greater familiarity with power saws, and/or you have a solid work bench and a bunch of clamps, and you're not trying to use a tiny saw because you're working in a site where bringing in the table saw is beyond just inconvenient ... maybe you'd like this saw. If you're a fairly small, not-too-muscular person trying to get a job done without bringing in the heavy artillery, this is probably not the tool you want. There isn't a variable speed control, the blade is either on (in which case it's moving so fast that it's invisible, like a propeller blade) or off. Since you can't see the blade when it's in motion, even if you don't mind curling over like a caterpillar and trying to look under the body of the saw to see where the blade lines up with your marking, that's impossible. And the gauge on the front end that is supposedly for the purpose of lining it up seems to vary in its alignment with every cut. The saw wants to pull to the left and make an arc, rather than a straight line. It takes some strong force to coax it not to do that, and it's a constant and (for me) often losing battle. The tiniest movement or loss of pressure forcing the saw in the intended direction allows it to kick loose and go off in another direction, very rapidly. It's a powerful little saw -- cuts through particle board like soft butter. But if it's that easy to cut particle board and that easy to have it jump, it's not for use by anyone who can't keep it in line. Not if they like having all ten digits and no deep cuts in their legs, other nearby objects, etc. So ... I'll be sending this one back. ... show more
