This is easy to put together. You'll need some adjustments of the track supports so that the cats stay on the tracks consistently. All of that only takes about 5 minutes or so. After that, it's all fun. My boy and figured out the timing to put more cars on the tracks, then we'd see how many cars we could get going at once before the inevitable crash at the intersection. Pretty soon the housemates and landlady all joined in and everyone was laughing when we'd mistime adding a new car or when crashes would happen. We probably spent an hour playing and laughing. We got this for my 10 year old for Christmas and she's obsessed! I feel like I won the parenting award this Christmas because of this purchase. It was very quick to set up and boy is it powerful! You can get like 4 or 5 cars running on this thing and the crashes are epic, but it doesn't fling the cars too hard or far. It's held up to not only my 10 year old using it, but also her 2 year old cousins. One thing that doesn't bother me, but may bother other parents, is that it is pretty loud. I think the noise is worth if for how cool it is and honestly, it's pretty easy to drown out. But I figured I'd mention that because I know it could annoy some people. Seems like a safe toy with the exception that if your child has long hair like my granddaughter you may want to put up their hair. I was afraid it would get caught in the moving part. My 6 year old daughter wanted a hot wheels track for Christmas and being a girl dad who had hot wheels as a boy I was more than happy to get it for her. It's a bit loud but what the hell it's a race track. What real race track is quiet? If she grows up to be an engineer of roads, race tracks, or an Indy 500 driver, I'll be in for even more noise.
