Thankfully the track is easy to put together, and after putting in the batteries it was running. The train is nice quality, heavy enough to stay stable, but light enough for kids to play. With 2 toddlers around, the track is staying together nicely. Can't say too much about battery life yet, but hopefully it lasts. This is a decorative toy. It is loads of fun. Children will love it. It eats batteries quite rapidly though. It seems a bit fragile too, so be careful with it. If you are looking for the high quality train sets of yesteryear, this is not it. You will have to spend much more cash to get that. All in all, I like it ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Fun under our Christmas tree! Didn’t work on our carpet, the cars kept derailing on the turns. On our wood floor, going the slowest speed no issues with derailments. Fun noises, kids love it!

    • Awesome train, but tracks are tricky

Regardless of the following complaint, have to say that this train is AMAZING. Our little ones are in LOVE, and it's just like the train in the opening of Toy Story 2! The remote control is easy to use, the sounds are real, the music is clear, and the figurines/train itself looks great! BUT the tracks aren't labeled in any way, and we can't - for the LIFE of us - figure out how to get a nice oblong shape; it's almost like we're missing a piece, even though we definitely aren't. After one too many tries, we've decided the best way is to leave a few of the tracks semi-loose. This doesn't always work and the train often slides off the tracks, but the only other option is to connect everything, which makes the track too tight and lifts half of it to a weird 45° angle. It's annoying. And considering the price, you would hope there'd be 0 issues. But overall, the kids are happy and it'd be too much of a hassle to return/exchange. We'll be keeping it and continuing to try and make it work. Wish us luck ... show more

The look on my 2 year olds face when he saw the box was enough for a 5 start review tbh. I did purchase this at 49% off original price but knowing what I do now, it is worth full price. Very easy and quick to assemble. Large track- We put around the base of our large Christmas tree and didn’t even use all the tracks. I do wish the links between cars were more stable, but it does come with several extra links should any of them break. My 2 year old is absolutely obsessed with Toy Story and loves this train. He just waves and giggles as Buzz and Woody go by and asks for his choo-choo to be going all the time. Best purchase I’ve made in a while ❤️ ... show more

I am so, so disappointed. My 4-year old grandson came home today from 3 weeks in the hospital for chemo and BMT, he was so excited to get to see his new train running under the Christmas Tree... It circled one time and stopped. It goes a little and then just stops. We changed batteries in both remote and train. Still no good. This grandmother is not happy! I will return and see if there is anything else out there. Any suggestions? ... show more

    • Nice but stopped working almost 2 years to the day

I bought this train to put around our Christmas tree. It’s great, we love the quality, the ease of use and the look. We set this train up two years in a row without issues. Unfortunately, on the third year of setup, the train would not run out of the box (almost two years to the day of purchase). We tried everything that Lionel recommended; changing the batteries, cleaning the wheels, cleaning the track, checking the gears and lubricant. Nothing worked. I called Lionel to see if they had any additional recommendations. Customer service was very nice and polite. Unfortunately the only additional recommendation was to take the train to a hobby shop. I had previously shown the train to a friend that is an expert in model trains, the fix would be pricey and dicey so we decided not to bring the train to a hobby shop. We would have loved to be able to use this train year after. We bought a cheap replacement and it’s just not the same. I’m not inclined to buy a more expensive Lionel for fear that it will stop working after a couple of years. ... show more
