It said on line that a "close mount" was possible, just not a "flush mount". The instructions in the box said otherwise! I went back to the item description and downloaded the manual there which did tell how to do the close mount. Took twice as long to install because of this but, other than that, it is great! Fan looks great on our screen porch. Very quiet and well- balance right out of the box. Pretty easy to install. Didn't need any help. The one thing I am disappointed in is how strong the motor pushes air. As others have said, don't expect to have to grab a blanket! Motor is slightly undersized for the larger blades. High speed is basically medium on most other 52" fans. I live in the deep south where porch sitting goes on year round. This fan is not going to help me a lot in July and August. ... show more
