The mat is attractive and does a good job keeping everything off the floor. The only problem is that “new product” plastic smell. When I introduced the cat to his new food location, at first he wasn’t convinced. He smelled his food dish, then smelled the mat, then walked away. It doesn’t help that we moved it to a different spot than usual. He went back to his old feeding grounds and sniffed the ground for stray pieces of food. Thankfully I was eventually able to convince him. I washed off the new product smell as much as possible, and spilled some cat food on the mat to cover up the smell. Then I lured him in with a couple cat treats, and he finally ate some food. Now we just need to make sure he remembers where to find it! I know that indoor cats often struggle to see objects less than 12” from their face, so that might be part of the issue. The odor from the new mat is disguising the smell of his food. But I’m sure he will get used to it and the odor will also fade over time.

I love these things. I can finally put their food bowls on something to catch the excess food. And when my cats push or remove food from the bowl, I can just fold this up and dump the excess food right back in! It's a thick rubber so it is naturally non-skid, but still flexible enough to fold for controlled dumping. However, my cats have made it a point to make a mess even with this thing. Somehow they are getting food out of the bowl *and* the mat now, causing food to end up underneath it. And when food ends up underneath, the rubber doesn't want to stay put as well. Not that this is a product defect at all! This is a very well-made item! The cats just make it a point to ruin all of my ideas. Maybe I just need to buy more and spread them out....

My two pups are quite the enthusiastic eaters. Without this mat, atop which I currently place both of their feeding bowls, I can't imagine the mess I'd have to be cleaning from the floor after every one of their meals. Instead, once my girls have emptied their food bowls, I simply remove the bowls for cleaning, and then lift the mat to rinse off and ready for the next meal time. The floor stays clean. Easy peasy. This mat was relatively inexpensive compared to other brands out there, and I liked the color selection as well, so I felt like giving it a try was worth the risk of having it not stand up to a lot of use. It arrived tightly rolled up, but flattened easily once out of the package and placed on the floor; no kinks or ripples at the edges to be seen. So far so good as far as durability with my voracious pups eating three times a day and the mat looking no worse for wear, including after repeated rinsing and cleaning. Very happy with this purchase and will probably buy another as my pups keep growing and won't always be able to share a smaller space when they eat. Good size for now and I really like the orange color I chose. Two thumbs up!

First, let me explain that I am a person who often doesn't use something for it's intended purpose. This is no exception. I live in western NY and believe me when I say that winter and spring are the times when you most want a good boot/shoe tray. One that doesn't slide around and also contains mud and moisture. Forget how well it absorbs, you primarily want something that keeps the snow or mud contained. Enter this silicone mat. Recently I had a get-together and this mat held EIGHT pairs of shoes effortlessly. After everyone left, the mat was a wet, muddy mess but a few shakes outside, a spray bottle of plain water and a couple of paper towels and it was clean and ready for more shoes. And, the best part is, it doesn't slip and slide around, even if one of the cats peels out on it. It has a “lip” which contains any moisture so if you buy this for a dog mat, you are not going to be disappointed when your dog slops water all over the place, as long as the water bowl sits on this mat. But, buy a second one and use it for a shoe/boot mat. Either way, you're going to love it!

Although I thought it would be slightly more rigid, it does what I need it to do. If you keep animal food and water bowls on it like I do, do not try to lift the mat while the bowls are on it. It is not meant for that. Empty the mat and then move it...trust me. But it's just what I needed for cat food and water bowls to keep the area around it clean.
