This tarp is made from nice, heavy canvas with excellent grommets and strong sewn seams. It is described as measuring 7’ x 9’ (84” x 108”) and based on that measurement, I bought it to temporarily fill a specific opening in my basement and capture some ambient heat in the room. When I opened it I found that, in truth, it is short on both sides. It actually measures 6’ 10” x 8’ 6” (82” x 102”), and does not fill the opening as I expected. I went back and read the description closer, I saw that the advertised measurements are NOT the finished size, and the actual measurements are in fact listed. My bad for inattention. In any event, this is a nice heavy tarp, does what I needed it for, and hangs very flat. Since it’s visible I didn’t want it to look like crap, but I see that after two days the wrinkles have already flattened from hanging it. I’m not noticing much smell at all. I’m also curious: the listing says indoor / outdoor use, but the package label says outdoor use only. Which is correct and why? ... show more

Many reviewers are complaining that this tarp is not waterproof, but it is NOT advertised as waterproof. The description says water-resistant. These two terms are NOT the same. I was hoping it would be waterproof, but it's not. After an initial test, I thought it was waterproof. I made a depression and it held water for quite a while until I emptied it. After I went to quite a bit of trouble to situate the canvas horizontally where I wanted it, and tested it by spraying with a hose attachment, MOST water ran off the tarp, but some soaked through here and there. I've ordered some waterproofing spray for canvas. This is a good canvas tarp, very well made. Expensive, but worth it, IMO. ... show more

I ordered this tarp to cover my two duck hunting pirogues while on the trailer as I drive to and from hunting spots in the rain. I had them covered one night, and after an entire night of 3" of rain, they were dry inside. The tarp blocked it all. This tarp is very heavy duty and the brown color is perfect. It can double as a liner inside my duck blind to block wond and rain. Pay attention when ordering. As the ad says, it may be smaller than you need it. Mine was smaller by a couple inches all the way around, yet exactly what I needed. Just order a little larger and you'll be fine. I would highly recommend this product. ... show more

10x10 tarp in white supposed to be reflective it was also supposed to be waterproof good sturdy tarp with grommets that did not rip or tear which as you can see in the picture mine did Rip I'm not going to take this part back off of the roof because it was too much trouble to get up there but I'm really dissatisfied with it they didn't offer a refund 100 plus dollars for a piece of crap tarp that I'm not happy with ... show more

Before this Cotton canvas 24 x 12 ft, I bought two more smaller, and they are waterproof. the others in their corners are very well done, stronger and reinforced. This is not. It is still sturdy, but the quality is lesser than the two previously bought. I think in order to keep quality at the top, Chicago Canvas distributor should seek with the manufacturer not to reduce the quality of this bigger canvas. I will have to buy a product to make it waterproof. It is covering my boat to avoid get wet when raining, and in Florida it rains many days during the year. ... show more

The weatherproof coating is very effective. I don't know why some reviewers tried to wash it off and complain about it. Yes it smells strongly for the first few weeks, but small price to pay for weatherproofing. I am using this canvas tarp as a replacement for my vinyl awning on my RV. It keeps the area around my door nice and dry in the rain. It is holding up well against the major wind storms we have been experiencing. One of the grommets have ripped out, unfortunately. But there was a lot of force against it and I think any other tarp would have ripped out in that case as well. I am happy with my purchase. ... show more

Thick, sturdy canvas. An absolutely horrible chemical odor from the coating. The seams are sewn very unevenly with lots of frayed fabric showing. Only has grommets. Other brands I have bought have tabs as well to connect to. No reinforcement on any corners or grommets. Adequate, but there are better brands. Made in India. ... show more
