  • Better than a heat lamp and wet paper towel
4-30-23 update. We have babies! Despite the battle with humidity, this has been much easier than our old method. The air flow fluffs then up quickly so we can move them to the nursery. 5 so far and 2 on the way. We do recommend. Great incubator. We have had our incubator for a couple weeks now and we have been experimenting with it prior to placing our first clutch. We thew a couple refrigerator eggs in it and it roled them with ease and the temp has been super easy to keep regulated. The internal space is perfect for little chick's to move around in as they hatch but the humidity is about to drive me batty. We started with a the supplied bottle adapter filled with H2O out of the box and that shot the humidity up over 80% within an hour. So we removed that, dried out the tray and ran it dry to get a 15%. Okay so time to get innovative. I'm a nurse who is also a pack rat, so I had an old expired pleurX bottle that I saw would be perfect for supply H2O and I could drill a hole to insert the needle for administration of the H2O without opening the lid evey time and dropping my humidity level. Figured my drop(gtt) factor. I have tried 2gtt, 3gtt and 4gtt per minute. The 3gtt equates to 9mL/hrs with this tubing. This is too much, humidity sits at 80%. So we drilled 5 additional holes to be able to cover or open depending on need let in or out additional humidity. This has aided at reducing humidity to 72% which is awesome for our last 3 days of incubation but a bit to high for adequate respiration of our little chick's during the developmental stages. This past week we have had a lot of storms and I have noticed that even though the incubator never gets opened and the holes are covered, our humidity is greatly affected my the humidity outside the incubator and barometric pressure. So, having hatched eggs successfully in the past in a cardboard box with a heat lamp, a wet paper towel, and am/pm written on opposite sides of the eggs so I knew how far to flip them. I am settling in to the idea that as long as I'm in the ball park or within the first to rows, we should do just fine. It will be nice to not battle with the temp. ... show more

  • AVOID- Not a good incubator
I have 3 different incubators. This one IS the worst of all of them. Tried out this one to see if I could solve the ever existing humidity issues that all non industrial incubators have. I liked the idea of a water tube on the exterior so I didnt have to lift the lid. Cons : - the lid is awful (thin, no real handle, easy to put back on incorrectly because it’s flimsy) - HUMIDITY does not stay consistent with the motor. Near hatching day it was impossible to keep it at or near 60%. Mostly sat at 50% even when I drained it and added hot water testing it consistently for 12+ hours every day. - there is a reason they don’t provide the bottle for the exterior reservoir. It over flows easily and doesn’t properly do its job - no visual to see how much water is in the base. You have to guess. One time I overfilled and my eggs we’re sitting in water !! had to drain it quickly -water added to the bottom doesn’t stay warm. If the incubator worked properly it would be warm. This is the fundamental issue proving the machine was not engineered correctly. -hatch rate was 40% and it was only this good because I started to assist. Would have been 10% if I had done nothing. They were trapped in the eggs due to the humidity issues and yolks wernt absorbed because of humidity problems - all in all the motor plus the base not engineered correctly is the reason this has terrible humidity contol. Pros: - temp was only one degree off when tested constantly - top lid has good visibility -easily able to get 30 quail eggs in there -turned the eggs consistently And thats about it. I dont recommend using this for the above reasons. Its the worst of the three I own and use. ... show more

  • It gets the job done
We’ve had chickens for a few years now. This is our first time hatching eggs. We have been planning to add more chickens to our coop this year. We bought this because with the price of eggs, everyone is apparently buying chicks and the local stores can’t seem to keep them in stock. The pros of this incubator are that it works and gets the job done. We’ve had 1 egg hatch so far and a few others are starting. The cons are that it’s hard/near impossible to regulate the humidity (yes you have to buy that separately) and it’s on the smaller side (will hatch 12 eggs. Also, you have to open the lid to add water and the temperature drops quickly, so you have to be fast. ... show more

  • Humidity is tricky but I have the fix for that!
Great product but the humidity is tough to get right. Get you the Govee hygrometer/thermometer, you need it. For the humidity, get you a round shoe string and cut an 8 in piece and place one end through the hole in the incubator and the other end in the tube. Do not connect the tube to the incubator, only feed the wet shoestring through, this will wick in the perfect amount of humidity. You can adjust the length of shoestring to raise or lower the humidity. I’ve had great success without spending hundreds of dollars on professional incubators. ... show more

  • Didn't come complete
I should have opened this as soon as I received it otherwise I would have known that the water reservoir for the humidity was not included in the package. I don't even see room for where it could have been. This means I had to monitor and control the humidity by hand which was a giant pain in the butt, but doable. Also, the light on the egg candler could be stronger. You can barely see through some of the eggs and even then you can only see small portions. Really, the only thing I was ever able to see where the air sacs. Other than that I couldn't see anything until I bought a stronger light. However, the egg rotator was amazing. It did its job and move the eggs every 4 hours. The temperature control stayed at a steady 99° f and so far everything is working out. A few minor inconveniences should result in seven healthy chicks soon. ... show more
