  • Fantastic product!
Size: 1 Pack
Absolutely fantastic for pickling gold, silver, copper and brass after soldering. I used it to pickle some melted down gold and Sparex 2 cleaned it up nicely. I also melted down some silver coins (all were only worth their value in silver-I didn't melt down anything rare or valuable) and after the pour, the top of the piece turned black with scale. Silver coins are about 90% silver and the base metals (like copper)leach up to the top during melting. This was a thick, black layer of scale. I didn't want to try to sand it off, so I put it in a solution of Sparex 2. This was my first time using Sparex. Within 15 minutes, all, and I mean ALL of the scale was gone! A very thin layer of copper covered the piece, which could easily be removed. By the way, Sparex works best when heated. I know there are pickling pots out there for $35 on up, but I used an old Jewelry Repair trick. I put the mixed Sparex in a small glass pickle jar and set it on a desktop coffee warmer. (Less than $10 in some places.) I've seen Jewelers use this method and it works great! The mix I used was 2 Tablespoons dry Sparex powder to 1 cup of distilled water. This worked like a charm! ... show more

  • Terrible packaging
Size: 1 Pack
For a first time user of this product, it would be helpful if the packaging had legible instructions. I've read they previously shipped this differently but thought the current, obviously cheaper, baggie packaging was a good idea. There were no other instructions on how to use this included with the shipment. I've had to trust the Internet for instructions and no idea if the ones I've found are correct or safe to follow. ... show more

  • This DOES NOT come in a 10 oz can!
Size: 1 Pack
The photo and description state "10 oz can", but it comes in a flimsy plastic bag that doesn't reseal. Instructions printed on the bag are smeared and difficult to read. That being said, I was able to measure out 1/4 of the stuff and mix with 1 cup of water in my mini crock pot, and it works great! I stored the opened bag by rolling it up, stuffing it into a styrofoam cup and then into a ziplock bag, ready for my next batch. ... show more

  • Great Product
Size: 1 Pack
This product works great! The only thing is you have to get it very hot for it to work. It almost has to be at boiling temperature for it to really be effective at removing all the fire scale on some sterling pieces, however once you get it nice and hot in the pickle pot for an hour or so, it will strip the black off your work in a flash. I recommend this product 100%, just make sure you get it super hot and you will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Clean right away

  • Great pickle
Size: 1 Pack
This bag will probably last me my entire life. Came well packaged and properly sealed. No spillage! Pickled my rings quick and easily, no problems at all. It is a VERY strong acid, so be careful using it on jewelry. I left some jump rings in it overnight and it almost ate right through them. This wasn't the product's fault, but mine. So just be careful with your soak times. ... show more

  • Made a mess
Size: 1 Pack
The bag was not factory sealed so the its contents were all over inside the box. Instructions say to mix 1 full bag with water, well I dont have a full bag now so how can I use/mix what's left? I have no idea how much was in the bag originally because it does not say it anywhere. Basically I can't figure out how to mix what's left, anyone know what is the mixing directions for lets say tablespoons? ... show more

  • Works great
Size: 1 Pack
This product works so well at removing oxidation after torch firing metal! I couldn't believe it! On the down side, I forgot to quench my piece before putting it in the Sparex, and it had an extremely noxious fume come at me. I later read it does this when over heated. Other than that, great product! ... show more
