  • Very cute and easy to assemble.
The house was fairly easy assembly. Yes, it’s pretty flimsy, but we put it on a foundation and reinforced some of the screws. I suggest buying longer screws of your own prior to assembly. We paired it with a run, that was also easy assembly, unless you’re old, fat, and out of shape like we are. Lol. In the end, we are very satisfied with the product. Happy chicken tenders. ... show more

  • Really poor quality
This coop was not worth the price. After assembling this coop not three days later the ramp started falling apart. It is easy to build. Overall it looks very cheap. It says it can house 8-10 but does not seem that big.

  • Great Little Coop
I purchased this coop as a temporary setup for my 20 chicks while our permanent stone coop is being built. These chicks are about 15 weeks old now, and they ALL fit in it with plenty of room to spare. Over time they will outgrow it, but this is the perfect solution for over the summer. In the future we plan to use it as a segway from the brooder to the coop. It is sturdy and well built for the most part. Wood is good quality cedar. Areas for improvement... the bolt locks are extremely flimsy and it would not take much for a raccoon to figure out how to break in. The door on the back side of the coop should have a more secure top latch because, again, a predator could figure out how to get in by pushing or pulling the one corner that is not bolted. We use heavy stones and logs to barricade the doors. Another weak point is the sliding tray floor, raccoons are clever and I could see them figuring out how to pull the tray and fit underneath. If you go the extra mile and secure those, you and your chickens will be quite happy with this purchase. :) ... show more

  • good basic coop to expand on
we built our first coop ourselves with salvaged wood and siding, although this coop is much smaller, it's still an upgrade for our girls. it does appear to have been designed by someone that knows nothing about chickens. our 7 full sized hens fit just fine, but giving 6 nesting boxes for such a small amount of chickens seems like a waste of space as they all crown into one nesting box no matter how many options you give them (maybe a second if someone is desperate). the "dividers" between the nesting boxes got knocked out over and over until we put in a couple screws to wedge them in place. we also had to put a strip of wood along the bottom the nesting boxes, as the tiny lip didn't prevent eggs from being kicked out accidentally. the roosts are much too narrow and really should be higher. although we've screwed real pieces of wood on top of them now, several of our ladies prefer the nesting box area since it's the same height anyway. the roosting bars also got knocked off all the time before we screwed in the new stuff. obviously with all the screws we added, we had to get our own, but I believe there were more pre-drilled holes for screws than we had screws provided to begin with. We knew when we ordered that we wouldn't be using the ramp (too easy for our toddler to stomp on and break), or I'd knock a star off for that as well. very hard to operate the latch, unwedge from the rest of the coop, rewedge to relatch... we did change the hardware on the regular door to a hook , so we can attach the hook the the run cage, otherwise the wind or wild chickens kept shutting it. we also put the whole coop on bricks so the tray isn't as close to the ground. PROS: the cedar smells good. we assembled the coop in the house and were able to carry it outside. if you have a decent size run or free-range your chickens, this is totally enough room for at least 7 normal sized hens to sleep and stay out of rain. obviously, it's a good looking coop. if you just really don't want to build a(nother) coop and you have a little know-how, it's a great frame to expand on. ... show more

  • Pleased with the purchase
After looking at multiple coops at our local farm supply stores, we decided to order this coop despite some of the reviews. We are glad we did! We have a large 12’x12’ run, and only needed the actual coop. This coop was much larger than those with runs attached at similar price points. Also, I knew we could send it back to Amazon easily if we weren’t pleased, but we are. 1st, if you are unfamiliar with pre-fabricated coops, you may consider this one to be flimsy, but in comparison to others it is not. We added 8 screws in between the pre-drilled on the front and back joining edges and it really sturdied up more. If you are planning on leaving this coop out in the open, I would not recommend. If you are placing it in a large run, I really suggest it. 2nd, the latches and hinges are not very strong but could easily be upgraded if the coop was going to be in the open and not in a run. If it were going to be left out in the open I would not trust the hardware to keep anything out. 3rd, the screws are pressure resistant and the heads will break off if you screw in to fast or tight when getting close to sinking. Took us once to learn to slow the auto screwdriver down and take our time sinking the screws. 4th, we will be weatherizing it with some Thompson’s waterproofing, the wood is stained not sealed. BUT, we would do that to any one we would’ve bought. It’s common sense to know they are better protected and last longer this way. 5th, we will also be raising the coop up off the ground a bit like another reviewer posted pics of. It will help in protecting the longevity of the wood. Honestly, we are country farmers and we build almost everything. My husband built our barn, for example, and he said while assembling the coop that there is no way we could build a coop like this for the money we paid on our own. We would’ve had so much more money and time put in. Hope this helps some of you with you future purchase. ... show more

  • Not predator proof!
Had some cracks in the wood. Not water proof. Replaced both door locks with heavy duty ones. The doors need predator proofing from coons. Missing screws.IT Wasn't worth what it cost Very unsaidisfied

  • I like it
I bought it for my 7 chickens and they have been very happy there. It has been almost 4 months and it's holding up great. I will buy a second one for my other flock. I just advise you to put it above some pallets because otherwise your chickens will jump on top of it and poop all over the roof.
