  • Very happy with this refrigerator
I'm very happy with this refrigerator. First, delivery was smooth and there was no issue unpacking the fridge. I did have to haul it into my house by myself -- which wasn't an issue. Perhaps it'd be best to have a second person on hand to help move it. But it isn't particularly heavy -- 87 pounds, according to the description -- mainly just big. Once the protective wrappers were taken off, it was plug and play. It's a 2-zone fridge, with the ability to set the top half of the fridge at a different temperature than the bottom half. It's easy to figure out how to set it. The usefulness of the dual-zone setting probably depends on how you plan to use the fridge. To chill different wines, it makes sense. If you're using this mainly for cans, or whatever, you may end up setting both zones to the same temperature. The racks in the fridge are not metal, as one might expect. They are wooden. That's I suppose a style-preference. But it's fine with me. The lights come on when the door is open. Or when you press the light button. The alarm starts to beep when the fridge hasn't been closed properly. But not immediately. It sounds like a little digital watch alarm or something like that. The control settings on the fridge are on the top, which means you may inadvertently hit a button or two if you open it from the top. But the handle is on the side, which is how you should be opening it. That is, I assume, less of an issue if you're using the fridge under the counter, as you should. If you're using it as a standalone fridge, you may be slightly annoyed by this feature. But again, not such a big deal. Just FYI. It's a pretty quiet fridge. Yes, if you listen closely, you'll be able to hear it cooling. But not an issue. Once I plugged it in, it cooled pretty quickly. Overall, the pictures are pretty true-to-form: It's a good looking, black, beverage fridge. That we're grateful to have. ... show more

  • Look very expensive, works beautifully
The Haier 44 Bottle Wine Refrigerator, Dual Zone Wine Fridge with Triple Pane Glass Door is my second Haier, and fourth wine fridge. My first Haier is still working after around 15 years of continuous use, giving me additional confidence in the brand generally. Regarding this specific wine fridge: It looks absolutely fantastic. Very sleek minimalist styling--every bit as nice as any of the highest-end brands. The door is plumb and level, with every detail well assembled. The door swing can be reversed, though I did not need to attempt that change. It was carefully packaged for delivery and everything was as expected when the box was first opened. And while all that's great, what's most important is how it works. The temperature can be set from 41 degrees F to 61 degrees F. The two zones do hold two completely separate temperatures. I set the top to 41 degrees F for sparkling wine and white wine and the bottom to 59 degrees F for red wine. I used a ThermoWorks digital refrigerator thermometer to measure the temperature over time, to see how well the temperatures were maintained. Both zones stayed within 2 degrees of the set temperature, which means it got as low as 39 degrees F. Especially for the price, this passed the temperature test with flying colors! The fridge is completely dark when not operating the settings--no temperature readout, red light, etc. I love this--who needs the light 24-7 wearing out the fridge unnecessarily. The control panel comes to life immediately when pressed, and then goes off after several seconds without use. It's also very intuitive. The noise is pretty minimal, and less than my older Haier, but you will hear it. I have it in my home office without noticing the noise. Think carefully if you're a light sleeper and considering this in your bedroom. Otherwise, you should be completely fine with some light gurgling of the refrigerant, etc. If you need quieter, you may want to look into fridges that are dramatically more expensive. There is a large light for the top zone, and two size lights for the bottom zone. They automatically illuminate when the door is open, and you can also press buttons on the face of the fridge to turn them on with the door closed. The door glass is very clear, and the lights are plenty bright. A nice detail is that the wall plug is flush with the wall, with the cord running down (or up) from the outlet to give you more space. I have a bookshelf near an outlet that prevents some standard three-prong cords from being plugged in, but the Haier cord was perfect. While it will definitely hold 44 bottles of wine, that is only with the most standard size and shape. I was able to get a total of 38 bottles with some being a little wider Burgundy bottles and other being a little taller Cabernet Sauvignon bottles. You may get less depending on the particular bottle shape, and 44 is probably the maximum number of full-size 750ml bottles that would fit. Overall, based on my prior experience with wine fridges, for looks, performance, and price, this is a fantastic unit. Of course, my opinion depends on reliability over time. I only gave if four stars instead of five because of the capacity--I would consider it more of a 36- or 38-bottle wine fridge. If you don't need that much capacity, then it would be five stars. Cheers! ... show more

  • Luxurious wine refrigerator
I like the simple modernly elegant design with the mixture of black, clear glass and wood. 2 zones with separate temp settings for different types of wines. Elegant wooden sliding wine racks that pull out and can be removed. Thick door with 3 pane glass which looks very nice and seems to insulate the fridge as well and improve energy efficiency. Easy to open and closes. Fits a lot of wine! Up to 44 bottles. I like the touch control screen. It locks your settings with a 3 sec button so that the temp setting don’t get accidentally changed. There is also a 5 sec button to turn the fridge off. Can be set btw 41 and 61F. Not designed to accommodate perishable foods. Although it is designed as intended, I wish the temp could be set just a few degrees lower to hold perishable foods if needed. Top and bottom sections are generally warmer than the middle sections when I measured with my Motorola thermometer that measures air temp Easy to set up. Just need to plug it in. Comes with door opening from the left to 90 degrees but there are instructions to change the door opening to the right and to also increase how much the door opens if needed. After turning on, it took 6-7 hrs+ to cool both sections of the fridge to 41F. I am using the fridge for wine, beer, soda, sparking water, and fruit. It is working out nicely! ... show more
