These are great for leca! For pon, you'll want to put down a layer of leca first to keep the pon from slipping through the slots. Speaking of slats, they are plenty wide for wicks. I ended up buying a second set!

    • Takes a Little Prep Work, but Nice Overall
These are nicer than expected. The plastic is substantial, not super cheap feeling. I don't think they'll break easily from regularly moving around or clanking against other plastic pots in storage, and the inner black pot doesn't bow under the soil's weight. I had to hold them up to my grow light and draw on a line where the bottom of the inner pot sits, so that I have a max fill line in order to not flood my substrate. Would be nice if there was a little raised line inside the pot to show you this, hence the loss of a star. The little "feet" on the inner pot that holds it above the water & through which water is absorbed by the soil, are too small for fine lava rock so I doubt small lecca would fit if I had been able to find any. You do really want a chunky layer of something in the feet and pot bottom for the soil to pull the water through instead of the soil sitting right in the reservoir and getting over saturated. I ended up having to use tweezers to shove moss into the feet holes. This made potting more time consuming than when I used the kinds with the wick, though it is nice you don't have to worry about roots entangling in a wick with these. Docked a star for instructions failing to mention the stone/moss/lecca layer and the pot feet being so narrow. I would probably buy again, as over all they're nice if you know how to set them up properly. Just really wish there'd be an option to have small enough lecca/lava rock for the feet included. ... show more

I use these pots with pon and my plants are growing like crazy. Very good for establishing healthy root systems on small plants. Highly recommend! (I have not used these with soil only pon)

    • Amazing for Hoya Plants
These are GREAT for Hoyas, as the inserts are full of open areas for drainage and airflow. I remove the inner basket, soak the chunky substrate, and put them back in the pot. They are light, so you need to be careful that they wont tip over. These would be great for African Violets, Succulents, or any other plants that prefer excellent drainage. ... show more
