  • Worked better than expected.
I bought a couple of these to help keep my Koi pond warm, and they did better than expected. I have a pond that’s 6,000 gallons 30” deep, even though I cover the pond in winter the extreme cold lowers the temperature enough to be fatal to koi. The lowest temperature deemed safe for Koi is 40° F and today the water got down to 38°F. Just 2 of these bucket heaters and a small circulator pump actually raised the temperature back to 40°F in about 15hours with the ambient temperature as low as 10°F overnight. This is a 5-star product, ignore the low reviews as those are people who don’t understand electricity or have electrical problems in their homes. ... show more

  • Good job heating up a max of a 5-gallon bucket.
I was skeptical when I bought this little water heater. I know it wasn’t designed for heating up a big pool… But I was hopeful that it would be able to do at least 5 gallon bucket of water. It did in fact do a good job heating up a 5 gallon bucket of water. Very happy with this purchase and the cost of this heater is well worth the investment. ... show more

  • It has a soft start built in. Great Immersion Water Heater.
Plugging in a 1500 watt appliance, one may be worried about sparks, bad contacts, and metal welding using a standard outlet. This appliance has a ~3 second soft start, which delays the power-up sequence. This will prevent all of the above. The construction is solid, the cord is about 1/2 in diameter and very solid. The plastic becomes flimsy in higher temps, would not use in anything besides water. ... show more

  • Plug grew hot on an allegedly 15amp outlet
Unfortunately, we live in an old house that was built rather shoddily so partially this is probably on the house rather than the product. But you need to know if your outlets are rated to 20amp or 15. I was hoping because I can use a blow dryer in the bathroom that I could use this on the same circuit to reheat water in a polar tub. This didn't trip the circuit in our bathroom but the plug did start to grow hot so we turned it off. It could be this should only be used on 20amp circuits or it is possible that my bathroom outlet is another example of questionable construction. In case you don't know, it's possible you might trip the circuit and have to go out to your box and flip the breaker. But just in case it doesn't trip the circuit, don't leave this running without supervision. I'm going to give it 3 stars because it appears to be well constructed and I feel that it is likely my house's construction that is to blame. But I do question if the stated 15amp minimum is enough. ... show more

  • It works
This water heater is amazing! At first I wasn't sure how this could possibly work because we've seen way too many movies where people get electrocuted from their hairdryer falling into their tub or even their toasters but I guess new era, new technology?. So we set out to try it and I was blown away just by how it works. I tried running this in my portable tub and it worked(my porta-tub didn't melt and my bath water was nice and warm). I left it on for about 15 to 20 minutes and then I let it sit for a few minutes (because I have trust issues) and now I can't imagine bathing in cold water outside. And yes, my porta-tub is an outside tub. Overall, really great water heater and great job on the instructions - it really helps with how to safely handle the water heater from start to finish. I would definitely recommend this water heater. ... show more

  • VERY USEFUL IN MY APPLICATION
I am a senior citizen who lives in a rural area, without city water. Therefore I use rainwater and water from the spring on my property. As my abode is quite modest (to say the least) I need hot water. This heater is being used to heat a 30 gallon barrel of water, in conjunction with a digital temperature control unit. My setup (although quite primitive on the face of it) works well for my shower and ordinary other uses. I have found no issues with this heater and I think it will serve me very well into the future. My morning shower is always nice and hot and this is an economical addition to my little homestead. It could certainly serve well for many individual needs. Well recommended to your attention. ... show more

  • Unreal heat
Put this in 2 gallons of water that was 66° and in 5 minutes it brought it to 138°. Honestly amazing. This is being used in an old whiskey barrel which functions as a bird bath with a waterfall on top. Generally, with about 40 gallons of water and direct sun it will only freeze after back to back days of below freezing temperatures. By hooking it up to a thermostat that turns on at 33 and off at 34 it won't freeze anymore. The massive amount of heat it produces makes me feel comfortable keeping the water temperature near freezing to save energy without worrying about it freezing up. Great immersion heater. ... show more
