  • These work great so far
The elements are an inch or two longer than the originals which allows more heating element surface area, allowing for slightly faster heating. Just make sure that your hot water tank can accommodate the extra length. (I didn't check beforehand but luckily they fit just fine and don't make contact with the other side of the tank.) The thermostats went in without a hitch. I recommend taking a picture of your old one to make sure you put the wires back in the same place as before. For the heating elements it doesn't matter which wire goes on which terminal (there's only two). Make sure the thermostat makes full contact with the tank or the measurement will be off. It will be low, which means the water will be hotter than you set it. ... show more

  • There Are Issues...
We decided to order this package to save a trip to the local store. Everything showed up looking fine. The installation was completed and everything seemed good to go. The water temp seemed to be a bit on the hot side. Lowered the temp on both thermostats. The water still seemed a bit hot but we let it go. Then the breaker in the main thermostat started tripping. Since the new parts have been in use we've noticed a recurring trend. The water temp gets hotter no matter where it is set on the thermostats. Then the breaker trips on the thermostat again... We are past the return date so I will probably just buy another set of thermostats from a local store. Edit: I was sent a full refund from the seller on this item. They took care of us without any trouble. But the lower thermostat actually caught on fire. When I went to replace the thermostats, I discovered the insulation under the cover was burned. Removing the lower thermostat required some work due to the thermostat being melted into the plastic insulator/cover and the tank insulation. Even though the breaker was doing it's job a fire did result. A new set of thermostats has resolved the issues. ... show more
