    • These work great so far
The elements are an inch or two longer than the originals which allows more heating element surface area, allowing for slightly faster heating. Just make sure that your hot water tank can accommodate the extra length. (I didn't check beforehand but luckily they fit just fine and don't make contact with the other side of the tank.) The thermostats went in without a hitch. I recommend taking a picture of your old one to make sure you put the wires back in the same place as before. For the heating elements it doesn't matter which wire goes on which terminal (there's only two). Make sure the thermostat makes full contact with the tank or the measurement will be off. It will be low, which means the water will be hotter than you set it. ... show more

I was about to remove the 30-gallon water heater in the washroom due to its age, but instead, I decided to replace the elements and hopefully breathe some new life into the heater. Installation was a breeze, but I benefited from an impact wrench and a 1 1/2 in. socket. There is no way one of those element wrenches would have removed the old elements.
