Description

Bosch Electric Mini-Tank Water Heater Tronic 3000 T 2. 5-Gallon (ES2. 5) - Eliminate Time for Hot Water - Shelf, Wall or Floor Mounted. Troubleshoot: (1) Water does not get hot- Make sure the power supply is on and working If the indicator light works properly but temperature does not get hot at the tap, test for a plumbing crossover; shut off cold supply to heater and open hot water tap. There should be no water flowing. Any continued flow indicates a crossover which will effect the temperature and will need to be corrected Call a qualified service technician to test the resistance of the heating element (8-10 ohms). Heating element should be replaced if readings are outside these values (2) Leaking- Check water fittings and T & P fitting on top of tank Remove front cover and inspect heating element gasket If tank is leaking call Bosch Water Heating for warranty claim if still within warranty period Check anode rod. Other troubleshoot solutions are available on the installation manual Pg-11. Manufacturer Contact Information

  • Great little water heater
Size: 2.5 Gallon
This water heater solved a frustrating problem in the house we bought to retire in. The main tank is working correctly, but is too far from the kitchen and bathroom sinks to be useful. We were washing our hands in cold water because of the wait time for the hot water to arrive at the faucets. We weren't used to that because our old house had a basement and the tank was in the center. There was a 18 second wait time there. When we moved to our present home, there was a 2+ minute wait, so we just gave up and used cold water. The tank is in the garage here. After I installed the first Bosch tank under the kitchen sink, we have hot water in 4 seconds. 2 1/2 gallons is plenty of hot water for any household sink. Now we have almost instant hot water, and the 12amp draw it uses didn't require a special circuit. I installed one in each bathroom also. The showers didn't need help because the wait time wasn't that annoying for them. The main tank was good enough to supply them. These 3 tanks have only been in service for about 2 months, so I can't comment on their lifespan yet, but they are all working great so far. ... show more

  • Great Improvement To My Kitchen. Just Be Sure To Check The Size
Size: 4 Gallon
This 4 gallon mini-tank heater is perfect for my kitchen. The total cost for the tank and the installation was about $325.00—higher in my case because the tank did not quite fit under the sink and I had to move it to a cabinet 6 feet away, on the other side of the dishwasher. This added the cost of two 6 foot hoses, two brass connectors, and a 12 guage extension cord. The normal cost would be under $300. I opted to abandon the hot water at the sink and run only cold water into the mini-tank. This way, running hot water in the sink never impacts my gas water heater. The downside is that I can run out of hot water at the sink, if I use too much at once, but the upside is that it saves a lot more energy and water. By turning up the temperature on the Bosch to ¾, I have eliminated the chance of running out for my own needs. My sink is located about 30 feet from my water heater, which is actually more like 40’ of piping. It was taking a good 30 seconds to get hot water every time, and I started collecting the 2 gallons of wasted cold water for my outdoor garden. Now the hot is basically instant. Because of the unusual 6’ distance, it takes one second to get hot water. If it were under the sink it would be quicker. Installation was quite easy. Even with this less desirable location, the hoses and extension cord passed easily behind the dishwasher. I did it myself, no plumber or electrician required. Why not get a demand water heater for the kitchen sink? Money. Any demand water heater you buy will require a new, dedicated electrical line with a dedicated breaker. This will easily cost you $1500 or more for the electrician to install it. A demand water heater retrofit really only makes sense if you are replacing your main water heater, and in my case, I would STILL want my mini-tank, because the distance problem would not be solved. It would make some sense to have a demand water heater installed at the sink for NEW HOME construction, but the retrofit is far too expensive to justify. Now that I have converted my sink hot water usage from gas to electric, I can start working on converting to solar. Get this mini-tank. It will save you water and energy, even if you connect it to the hot water line. What you will need for a standard, under-the-sink installation: 2 ½”npt to 3/8” compression hoses, 2’ long 1 3/8” compression tee 1 3/8” female to female connector (male on both ends) Aluminum water heater pan You will use the connector to connect the 2’long 3/8” hose to the hot water hose for the sink tap. For my installation, I used the following: 2 ½” npt to 3/8” compression hoses, 1’ long 2 3/8” dishwasher supply hoses, 6’ long 3 3/8” female to female connectors, two to connect the 1’ hoses to the 6’ hoses, 1 3/8” compression tee 1 12 gauge extension cord, 8’ long Aluminum water heater pan Depending on your kitchen and location, you may want to plumb a PVC pipe into the over-pressure valve and either to a floor drain or to the outside. My kitchen has waterproof tile floors, so I can take a chance on an overflow filling the drain pan and spilling out onto the kitchen floor. I can just mop it up. I connected the 6’ DW supply hoses to the 1’ hoses. It was the easiest way to get the long 3/8” compression hoses to connect to the ½” npt connections at the water heater. Oh also, you need a good flashlight or headlamp, and a couple of pairs of adjustable spanners (small crescent wrenches). Note: Technically, you will need an electrician to install the 7 gallon version, but it does not require a new or dedicated circuit, as it still only pulls 12 amps. If you are comfortable connecting the electrical line into your existing box, you will be OK. Add a little cost for connectors or possibly a larger electrical box. In some municipalities, you may need a permit and inspection because this may qualify as adding an electrical circuit. The 7 gallon would be nice, but it also takes longer for the tank to heat and takes up more room. All good products though. I updated this on 3/19/2022 to correct some typos. ... show more

  • Perfect
Size: 2.5 Gallon
I finally got this installed. The hardest part was getting a new electrical outlet underneath the sink. We have dual sinks. I turned off the hot water for my wife’s sink (probably should cap it) and connected this to the cold water with a T (easy to fine at the hardware store). That way when she draws warm water it’s not pulling from the hot water to waste it in the pipes. My wife uses warm water for even brushing her teeth and the sink is a long way from our traditional water heater. She loves it. I left it at the default setting which is just lukewarm so I’m sure it won’t use much power and hopefully will last longer. They do recommend a drip tray connected to drain in case it ever does fail. Also, the anode rod is supposed to be checked once a year. ... show more

  • Bought as a stand-in, but…
Size: 4 Gallon
I may just make it a standalone! My RV propane water heater went out & new one takes 10 days to get and is 6x’s the price of this. Got this and it works amazingly. Keep in mind it’s heating water for one person, so not a family. I got to thinking today that I’ve made just use this permanently and forget buying the propane water heater. Takes just 9 minutes to heat the water and I keep my unit off until I need it. ... show more

  • Do a great job
Size: 2.5 Gallon
I bought two of these four bathroom sinks that would never get warm enough to use. Instead of getting a recirculation pump, I decided to go for instant heat. It is after all for a guest bathroom, and I wanted it to be like a hotel room. Also, it doesn’t require you to use a timer like a recirculation pump and it has not increased my electric bill at all. My handyman told me that a recirculation pump can work, but if you’re at home all day long, you’ll be out of luck and your bill will be higher. Also at this price, it solve my problem more effectively then the pump . Only issue so far is that if you don’t use it for a while, there’s a little bit of air that gets in the line when you turn the hot water on but if you use the sink daily, this would not be a problem. ... show more
