As a dog owner, I was super frustrated at having to open cans of food every day. I saw reviews about this product and thought I should give it a try. Normally, I look at the negative reviews first and saw a person state that it doesn't work with cans of tuna. I works perfectly every time I used it. It was so easy to open any can that I actually looked forward to the next time. It was a bit compulsive. It's over now but I still enjoy how easy it is to open a can. I started using a normal can opener for my cans of tuna because the normal way of opening makes it easier to push the lid down to squeeze out the water. For a hand-operated can opener, this thing is incredible. I've been through so many of those crank style ones that leave jagged edges which cut up your hands and eventually the gear rusts. The design of this one is such that the contents of the can shouldn't ever touch the gear, and if it does by some wild misfortune manage to, a quick rinse will get it clean. This is the best can opener! I know that sounds weird but it is really amazing and it makes a difference. Oddly enough, there is a bit of a learning curve. It is different than any other can opener that I have used, and it took me a couple tries to get used to it. But it is worth it, I guarantee it. It cuts so smoothly, there are no jagged edges or sharp pieces on the can or lid. It is a great for a child to use. It is also very durable. I owned the original design (two handle) for over 10 years before it bit the dust. I had high hopes that this would be an equally efficient and useful design. It is, mostly, except that once the lid has been cut off the can, it is not that easy to remove it from the can opener. Perhaps I just got a bum model.
