So to start with it came packaged very nice. The packaging was very professional, well Protected, and gave the feeling of quality from the start. The package included a vesa bracket and custom branded HDMI cable, as well as a nice quality power supply with a good long cord. The case is plastic. I suppose at this price point of course it is. But the plastic feels like it’s nice high quality. I’m happy with the look and feel of it. The green power button to match the accent color on the PC is a nice touch, and the power button had a nice feel to it, wasn’t too mushy like it would break easily. Windows was clean of virus’, activated correctly, and had ZERO bloatware. From box to using the desktop was maybe 5 minutes, easy setup. Zero frills, just as Windows should be from the factory. I’m just getting started using it I’ll come back and report on its performance. Performance was really good ! The system stayed cool and didn’t throttle. Love the size, got rid of my big boy! Right off the bat i knew i did not have enough USB ports, i know i can add with other USB add ons but inconvenient. My scanner is seems to disconnect with use. Not sure if it's going to be a big enough hard drive for what i do. For 275.00 and it's size I'm OK with the purchase. Company read my review and reimburse me so i could by an add on for more ports, sweet! ... show more

Slapped batocera linux on it and everything ran no problem, able to easily play moderately demanding games at 720p. Used as a small game console, can play loads of windows games as well as emulate consoles up through PS2 and somewhat original xbox. Accessing the internals is easier on this model than most mini PCs, pop the top off to expose the chassis screws and under that first panel you can access the RAM and upgrade it easily. Enjoying it so far, it's advertised as 32gb video memory (I understand this is not logical as the unit comes complete with 32gb ram total), however, upon arrival the mini pc is set at 3gb video igpu. A quick visit to the bios allowed me to max the gpu ram to 8gb, pretty far from the advertised 32gb (:P). The box runs decently on most major pc titles with a few tweaks needed in the amd adrenaline software. I do wish this box could allocate 16gb of the 32gb to the 780m, could that be a possible future bios update? ... show more

I bought this dandy little box to see how much faster it might be than my N100 box that I'm very pleased with. Other than standard desktop apps, my major use is video editing, transcoding, and organizing my digital movie collection. One major consideration for me is that it runs Linux, specifically Linux Mint. I'm done with Windows and it's constant hardware upgrade requirements and code bloat that slows everything down. For comparison, my N100 box (beneath the lower right of the monitor) has 16GB RAM and a 4TB Crucial SSD and is running Linux Mint 21.2 Cinnamon Edge. The Nucbox K6 is on the lower right. On the upper shelf is a GMKtek G2 running Ubuntu Server that I use as a media vault that serves my media throughout our home. The Nucbox K6 has a slightly different port configuration than my other minis but none of that is an issue for me. I use the single USB 2,0 port for my keyboard/mouse dongle and since I only use one monitor one HDMI port is fine. Because of our living situation, we share our daughter's internet service which limits cable connectivity. Everything is wireless. I have no foreseeable need for the ethernet ports or the DisplayPort. On initial boot, I was a bit surprised at the time to see the first screen for the Windows 11 setup, almost a minute. After that everything went quite smoothly. I had a running Windows 11 system in about 5 minutes. The next step was to see if Linux Mint would run. I booted using a USB Live version of Linux Mint 21.2 Cinnamon Edge. This version runs the Linux kernel v6.2 which was essential for the N100 device and I knew would not hurt the Nucbox K6 performance. In about 2 minutes the Nucbox K6 was running Linux with all peripherals running, including wireless @ ~300Mbps download, sound and video hardware acceleration. I was surprised to see the resting CPU temperature at 30 degrees C, a full 10 degrees less than the N100. This is all considerably faster than on the N100 box. The final test was to render an MKV file of the movie "Big" to an MP4 using an H265 codec in Kdenlive. When I did this on the N100 it took over 4 hours. On the Nucbox K6 it took 1:01:03. Looking at the System Monitor, it appears that the total CPU utilization is about 50%. This makes me think that the process is I/O bound since both the input and the output are on the same USB SATA SSD. Once I do the full Linux install I expect it will be even faster. The media could not be loaded. I bought the Nucbox to run dedicated gaming servers, but it can do much more! Simulatenously runs two servers at <10% CPU usage and <25% memory, so there is room for many more servers. I have also used it to play games away from my desktop. Runs fast, quiet during minimal usage. Under heavy gaming loads the fan can get loud if close to it. There might be better decible devices out but this does great. Ran some newer games on it such as Horizon Zero Dawn and MK1. Its able to run ultra settings but might not be the best performance. For the price with a coupon its well worth the price. ... show more
