The reel may be quickly removed for storage using the quick-release system by simply lifting the handle. I would recommend making the installation post larger than 4x4.

The only downside is that with the smaller line it the output of water is less and not as strong. It is fine for watering a garden, but I would not use it in too many other applications. It is so nice to just be able to pull the hose out and let it go back up on its own. The sprayer that comes with it is good, but I just wish more pressure came out of it. I love having a retractable hose! It makes watering plants so easy and convenient. Neighbors have commented that they now want to get one because you don't have to mess with winding up a hose manually or dealing with kinks or twists in the hose coil. My husband mounted this to a sturdy 4x4 post on our front porch. He created an extra sturdy mount because we had to place the bolts through a plastic post cover (see photo). After using it for about 1 month now (maybe 2) the top of the mounting bracket seems to have started to bend, almost like it is going to slip out. The bottom mount has a screw to hold it in place, but the top one doesn't as you can see in the photo. We might have to find a way to add this, but then I'm not sure how we would unmount it for the winter months?? Also, the retractor feature is starting to catch. The hose gets stuck and doesn't always retract or release completely. Maybe would be more durable if the parts were made of something other than plastic. ... show more

The product itself is decent, probably better suited in the $80 range. Everything on this reel is made of plastic and seems too weak to last when pulling a hose, we'll see I guess. My biggest complaint is that the mounting did not go as detailed in the booklet. The instructions are simple step-by-step and don't require much knowledge to accomplish. I followed these steps to the letter and the top lag bolts won't catch the anchors to hold the reel in place. The bolts couldn't even hold the standalone weight of the unit. I had to run to the store to get a better set of anchors to hold in place so I didn't have to patch 4 holes in my wall and try again. I recommend the use of better anchors when hanging. ... show more

First, i love that this has a metal bracket, not alot of retractable hoses come with metal bracket...i tried another big name brand that had a plastic bracket and it cracked and ripped out...this one is sturdy and strong. If you are wanting to mount this on a post like i did, a 4x4 wont be wide enough, you need a 6x6. For the build quality, the plastic used is a little thin but it makes it light. Time will tell if it will hold up to south Florida heat and weather. The retracting mechanism works even you turn on the water first. It pulls out easily. I wish they came with quick disconnects but i purchased them separate here on Amazon. I got the 1/2 inch size, perfect for watering plants and such. Im not missing the 5/8th hose diameter at all. All in all, i am glad i made the purchase and just makes gardening a breeze and fun to use. ... show more
