Cleanup is just as fast thanks to the dishwasher-safe removable plates. They come with the George Tough nonstick coating that holds up through cooking and cleaning, alike. This is the must- have grill for couples or small families who want easy, delicious meals. compared to current removable plate grill, GRP0004 from 1/4lb. uncooked 80/20 ground chuck compared to standard George Tough non-stick coating. Grilling really can't get much easier than this. After assembling the grill (which takes only a few minutes), simply plug it in and allow about 10 minutes to fully preheat the surface while you gather your steaks, kebabs, or whatever's to be grilled. The electric heat has an adjustable range from low (for keeping food warm) to high (for searing steaks). The nonstick grill surface not only means you can use a minimum of added fat, but it also makes cleanup a cinch. The surface has a subtle slope, with channels that draw accumulated fat or other liquids into a tray just below the surface. The high domed and vented lid helps create a circular flow of hot air to ensure even cooking--particularly important for a large roast or whole chicken. The grill can be placed either directly on a tabletop or atop its pedestal. On its own, the grill surface stands about 6 inches high; with the pedestal, it stands about 2-1/2 feet high, not counting the domed lid. The pedestal is plenty sturdy for cooking, but the grill still seems a bit top-heavy, so pay special attention if grilling in a high-traffic area or near kids. Because of the easy electric heat, this grill can be used outdoors or indoors--when using it indoors, though, be prepared for potential spattering, steam, or other side effects of cooking. --Cynthia Nims

    • The best grill EVER! Way better than the "new" version GFO240S!

We made the mistake of buying the newer version of this grill (GFO240S) at Walmart over Labor Day Weekend. We were intrigued by it, thought it came close to being a perfect grill after using it that weekend, but were upset by there being no place to put the lid when checking on the food, having to take the entire top part off to clean, and there being no vent hole in the top. So after our first use I decided to look on Amazon to see if they had other versions and surprisingly found this one. I couldn't believe there was a version that had the features we were looking for! Then I later discovered that the perfect version is the OLD version and the one we bought at Walmart was the NEW version. That was shocking. Why take a product whose features include a removable plate, lid vent hole, and way to hang the lid off the side so you can free up your hands to check the food, and then replace it with a bare bones model and call that one "NEW"? They are cutting corners. I immediately ordered the perfect old version, this one, then returned what we bought back to Walmart. When the GGR50B version arrived we cooked on it that night. What a difference! What perfection in a grill! My husband was so happy he said he was done with his old charcoal monstrosity, that he found the grill he has been looking for all of his life. We've spent so much money over the years on grills trying to find one he likes. Gas, charcoal, it didn't matter. We must have been the only people on the planet that never had a George Foreman grill before! Well, we like it soooooo much I thought I better research and make sure they are still making these for the day, years from now, when we might need a replacement. I went to the George Foreman website, this model is nowhere to be found. So, I decided to order another one on Amazon to keep in storage as a backup, because apparently they just don't make them like this anymore! We are still saving money buying two George Foreman GGR50B grills in one week, Amazon currently has a $10 off coupon making this $80. Two grills at $160 is still cheaper than the one crappy charcoal/gas grills we have been buying! That is how strongly we feel about this grill. The new version (GFO240S) we recommend you stay away from. It is okay, but if you can get this version, you would be far better off. Oh, and don't wait, because this version may not be around long if it is no longer available at the George Foreman website. This grill cooks evenly, has plenty of cooking space, is easy to clean, and doesn't have a large footprint. I built it, and shocked my husband by that fact when he came home. I am notorious for being afraid to try to put new things together and make him build everything. It was so easy to build, a clueless grill builder like me put it together in about two minutes! Oh and I never grill, but this grill is so easy to use that now I cook on it! Another miracle. On a side note, I rarely buy things without researching on Amazon. It was on a whim we tried the George Foreman grill from Walmart. This is a prime example of why I should never buy anything on a whim, continue to research via Amazon, and if they have the best price, buy from Amazon. I will be updating my review as time goes on, as long as this version is still available, to let you know how it holds up to almost daily use. ... show more

I love this grill! Because I live in a condo, I'm not permitted to have a gas or charcoal grill on my patio. There's a charcoal grill out in my courtyard and I've seen so many of my neighbors haul all of their supplies out to the grill: charcoal, lighter fluid, matches...then they've got to come back in and grab the food, the aluminum foil, seasonings, their tongs/spatula or whatever. It seemed like so much work to enjoy a summer cookout. So I started on a mission - to find a grill that I could enjoy on my own patio. I read other great reviews on this product and also thought it was very affordable. I decided to order and try it out. Once I finally got it unpacked (it was in a box inside a box inside a box) it was quick and easy to assemble - probably took me about 10 minutes. So far I've grilled chicken and steaks and hope to try hot dogs soon. I really love grilled foods because I can try different seasonings/sauces and make a healthy meal. Before I either had to broil (which can overcook steak in a heartbeat) or bake chicken which took forever. I prefer not to use a saute pan because then it takes up yet another burner on the stove. This grill is so easy - it heats up very quickly, I turn the food over once, and I've got a delicious piece of meat in less than 10 minutes. Because its outside on the patio, I don't have to turn the oven on and warm up my whole kitchen/condo. I actually look forward to grilling so I now cook at home more often than I eat out. Its so quick and simple to turn out a meal for one now, I've even lost a few pounds. Its also a cinch to clean. Once the grill cools off, I just take a damp papercloth and wipe down the surface. Because George Foreman makes such a quality non-stick surface, the BBQ sauce or marinade that I used comes right off. I'm even thinking that if I remove the grill from its stand, this would also be great to take on my camping trips (when I have campsites with electrical outlets). The only thing I wished is that it had an inter-changeble flat top grill so that I could cook up some bacon or pancakes or eggs. But maybe this option does exist (I haven't looked yet.) ... show more
