    • Excellent alternative to cheap box fans
First, I ordered a white box fan and received a black one. No idea how or why that happened, but for my purposes it doesn't matter, and I actually prefer the black version for the intended location. I use box fans in my home to improve air flow, air filtering (with a 20x20x1 filter attached) and white noise. I keep a couple running at all times. I have purchased numerous $20-$25 box fans from a large local retailer (I believe Lasko is the prominent brand). This is so much better. I purchased one of these a while ago and liked it so much that I went with this fan again. The legs / stands are robust and the airflow is substantially better with these. Which, that also means they are noisier than the standard, cheap-o $20 box fans. If you want a completely silent fan, then you probably should look for something else if you're looking to move air. If you want a much-better version of a box fan you can pick up locally, this could be a great option. If you want something that moves even more air, get something like this AIr King (B0007Q3RMA) -- though that is even louder, but much more powerful than this. This does run $10-$20 more than box fans I can get locally if buying new, but the extra price so far has been justified. They look better, they function better and they offer better airflow. ... show more

    • Great sound/air flow, even after a year
I e been using this fan every night for over a year and have been very satisfied with its performance. The fan three speed settings, and is decently durable, having no trouble blowing plenty of air, effectively cooling down a room. One of the main reasons I bought it was for its soothing sound, and it does not disappoint. The fan produces a consistent and calming noise that has greatly improved my sleep quality. Its overall function is excellent, delivering both strong airflow and a pleasant sound experience. When it comes to cooling down a room, instead of using air conditioning on warm days, the Genesis 20" Box Fan is a good substitute. It's pretty light to lift and really moves air, especially when the setting is on high! Two issues to tell you about. #1, the fan is expectedly a bit loud when running on high, and #2, the fan that I received didn't come with a carrying handle as advertised. There were no holes drilled from the factory to accommodate a handle. It simply didn't come with one. Easy controls and sturdy base. Packaging was minimal. Good value. Moderate noise level, but moves air well. I use it in a window and it cools a room down quickly.

First, I think I've left only one or two reviews in the YEARS I've been purchasing on Amazon but this is so good I wanted to leave my feedback. I bought a Pelonis box fan last year and was not impressed with the air flow at all. I like to sleep with a fan in the window on cool nights and it barely brought any fresh air. I decided to try the Genesis this year and what a difference! I think the 'power' at the lowest level on this fan is more than the highest with the Pelonis. My only negative comment would be that on high it is a little noisy, but because it's so powerful putting it on medium or low is sufficient. This is a great, powerful box fan! ... show more

I bought a lot of Lasko box fans from Walmart. They come bent and the blades hit often. They also require you to snap on the legs and if the fan is bent, the legs wobble and the fan begins to hit often, as I said. Here, this fan is unique and extremely super-duper awesome! First, they need to box the fan better because its too valuable to place it in such thin boxes. Thats because amazon can have some drivers who do what they do, or because others just drop them. So, use thicker boxes please. Secondly, the fan weighs heavy probably because its not cheap, has quality, and is durable--unlike a lasko. This fan feels like quality and is very solid. The box doesn't move or shift on high--like a cheap lasko would. Thirdly, the legs are attached underneath and they are sleak and smooth to twist. You just twist them clockwise (or counter, cant remember) and the box fan stands--bravo! Fourth, the fan is smooth and makes a nice light noise. I need a box fan to sleep because it drowns out steps and door slams. This fan does it. ... show more

I had this fan for 3 days, when a small box fell against it, which broke off a fan blade and it stopped working. I will fix it, but be aware this is as lightweight as they come. This is a box fan.
