Description

Power outages usually occur without warning. Ideally, a homeowner is prepared with an automatic home standby generator installed and always ready to go. However, if a portable generator is the only option forbackup power during an emergency, the GP15000E unit is a great option, with enough power to run up to a 5-ton air conditioner and more. Also an ideal choice for jobsites with high power requirements. This model features Generac's OHVI engine for extended run times and longer life. Featuring a compact, wheeled frame for easy transport, the Generac 15,000-Watt Portable Gas-Powered Generator with Electric Start provides a reliable power supply wherever you need it. A Generac OHVI (overhead valve industrial) engine delivers performance and power, while a sturdy steel-tube cradle protects the generator's exterior. For safe and comfortable use, the circuit-breaker outlets prevent power overloads, and the low-tone muffler makes for ultra quiet operation. .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: 20px; } img.withlink {border:1px black solid;} a.nodecoration {text-decoration: none} Portable gas-powered generators deliver power when you need it, where you need it--from outdoor parties to construction sites. (Note for California and Canadian residents: This model is not CARB-compliant (units sold to California must be CARB-compliant) or CSA-certified.)A Durable Power Supply Wherever You Need It The Generac 15,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start is an ideal portable generator to have at home, on the job site, or wherever you need power. Its compact frame-- 48.5 x 31 x 39.5 inches (LxWxH)--is fitted with lifting eye handles and pneumatic, all-terrain wheels for easy portability. And with its hardened steel-tube cradle, this rugged generator holds up well for frequent travel, allowing you to look forward to years of operation. Plus, this model features an electric ignition for fast, easy start-up. Thanks to its versatile design, this generator adds comfort and possibility to any situation. Use it to keep your family safe and well-equipped through unexpected blackouts or make construction jobs faster and easier.A Low-Maintenance, High-Performance OHVI Engine Designed specifically for generators, the Generac 15,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start's heavy-duty 992-cc OHVI (overhead valve industrial) engine boasts a host of features. An exclusive X-Torq governor maximizes the engine's performance to keep it running without stalls. And so engine components continue moving smoothly, a pressurized lubrication system sends oil directly to critical areas. Thanks to this full-pressure lubrication system, the engine can employ an automotive-grade, spin-on oil filter that sifts out dirt and other unwanted substances. The oil filter works alongside a dual-element air filter. Together, the two keep engine performance at a maximum and maintenance at a minimum. Plus, this generator's sturdy, 16-gallon resin tank ensures a full 10 hours of operation at a 50-percent load, letting you relax for hours of use. The automatic-idle control reduces fuel usage and noise, while the tank's built-in fuel gauge lets you monitor fuel levels at a glance. Generac even provides you with your first supply of oil.Plenty of Wattage to Run a Full Range of Appliances The Generac 15,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start supplies 15,000 output watts and 22,500 maximum watts (for start-up of devices). It has an A/C voltage of 120/240 and a frequency of 60 hertz. For unexpected blackouts, this is enough wattage to run home appliances such as security systems, computers, and electric stoves, as well as air conditioning systems and sump pumps. (A manual transfer switch is required to connect to air conditioning systems.) For construction and landscaping applications, it's enough to support large devices such as lawn mowers, belt sanders, and table saws. And for camping and outdoor events, it can run portable stereos, outdoor lights, and electric grills. (Note: All appliances should be checked for actual wattage ratings.)Safe, Quiet Operation with Overload-Protected Outlets If security and quiet operation are important to you in a generator, then the Generac 15,000-Watt Generator with Electric Start is an ideal choice. Its outlets (two 120-volt, two 120-volt GFCI, one 120-volt 30 Amp twist lock, one 120/240-volt 50 Amp, and one 12 VDC battery charger) are circuit-breaker protected, guarding against power overloads and allowing the generator to smoothly send power to your appliances. And the low-tone muffler means the generator runs at a comfortable noise level that easily blends into the background. This generator is backed by a two-year limited warranty. What's in the Box Generac 5734 GP Series GP15000E 15,000-Watt 992-cc OHVI Portable Gas-Powered Generator with Electric Start (Non-CARB Compliant), 12VDC 365-CCA battery, first oil supply, wheel kit, maintenance kit, and manual. .matrix { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font- size: 10px; } .matrix_header { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; } .matrix_title { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold; } ul.matrix { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -12px; font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; } Compare the Generac GP Series Portable Generators Model GP1800 GP3250 GP5000 GP5500 GP6500 GP7000 GP7000E GP8000 GP8000E GP15000E GP17500E Running/starting watts 1800/2050 3250/3750 5000/6250 5500/6875 6500/8000 7000/8750 7000/8750 8000/10000 8000/10000 15000/22500 17500/26250 Fuel tank size (gallons) 4.0 4.0 6.6 6.6 6.6 8.0 8.0 8.0 8.0 16.0 16.0 Approx. run time @ 50% (hours) 14.5 12.5 10 10 10 11 11 11 11 10 10 Electric start (battery included) Yes Yes Yes Yes Dimensions (L x W x H - inches) 23.5 x 17 x 17.5 25 x 21 x 19.5 33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 33.5 x 26.5 x 27.5 48.5 x 31 x 39.5 48.5 x 31 x 39.5 Shipping weight (pounds) 79 91 167 167 172 177 182 187 192 363 390 P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer Easy to use in a variety of applications, our GP series of portable generators offers affordable reliability. • A big serious generator that requires some serious set up
Delivers the power we need for our heat pumps, well, fridge, microwave, internet and some lights. Started right up after set up. Overall I am very happy with it. It is very loud and very heavy. We had an electrician set up a transfer switch and a heavy duty cable so we can switch from utility power to generator power for the essential items we needed. BE ADVISED when it is delivered it comes bolted to a pallet and you have to unbolt it and figure out how to lift the thing to attach the wheels. The unit weighs about 450lbs! I used a 2x4 to lever it up and some blocks to hold it up while I attached the wheels. I recommend getting a friend to help with this. The directions are not as well written as I would have liked. Now that it is all assembled it is still a bit of challenge to move around given the weight. But hey, this is not a generator for quick casual use. This thing is serious. I can’t really comment on tech support as I haven’t had to use it. I did like the free scheduled delivery - this made life easier. Love the electric starter. ... show more

  • Performed perfectly reliably!
So far i like it. I have only ran it for a few minutes to set it up but will give it a proper break-in and test. It should prove to be a valuable piece of equipment to back up my home's power. I had one issue- the assembly instructions were really terrible. The issue is that the assembly diagram is a really small picture, 2 x 2 inches! I had a hard time reading it and seeing what part is what. Also some of the copy references things that aren't on the generator like how the battery cables are attached. For an expensive large ticket item like this they could at least ship with better documentation. Luckily i am mechanically inclined and i figured it out with minimum issues. One word of caution- it arrives bolted to a pallet and you will need a helping hand to lift it up on blocks to install the feet and wheels. It is very heavy so be careful! I have watched videos before hand and i was not surprised by this. Make sure you have a socket set and wrenches for assembly. Also be ready to put air in the tires as they are not fully inflated. Its a beast to move so make sure the tires are filled properly (25-30psi). They also ship it without oil in it but provide enough oil and supplies to do the initial setup and one oil / filter spark plug change. They do not tell you how much oil to put in. You need to check that it is not overfilled. It has a decent dipstick so go little by little and check it as you go I ended up putting in a bit more than half of the bag they supplied. Overall I like the solid build quality and feels like a serious piece of equipment. Update: When hurricane Isaiah came, my town was without power for 5 days. This generator worked perfectly! I was able to run my central air, all lights, fridge, internet, tv and some other items for hours at a time. It performed reliably and with no issues. I discovered that my usage level was burning about .46 gal/hour. which is a bit lower than what they say it burns at 50% capacity. I also ran it enough to do my first oil change and found that it takes 1.7 quarts and the oil filter is easily found in the local pep boys or car parts store. I am very happy with this purchase and glad i have the peace of mind i have this as a backup. ... show more

  • 10 hrs of use and charging circuit is dead. Won't start without a jump
Although the generator is working just fine, we are VERY unhappy with Generac and their support. It ran for only 10 hrs after which time the battery failed, will no longer charge and we have to jump start it to keep the job site running. We now have 15 hrs on it (ONLY). Generac's support simply states to take it to a service dealer as per their warranty. IT IS BRAND NEW...and BROKEN. One place we called states they are 7-10 days out before they can look at it, it then takes 3 extra days for parts (since they come from Canada) and we will probably be without a generator for 2+ weeks. We are so done with this unit....we do not care if it runs for 10 years form here on in...the fact it is BROKEN after just 10 hrs is NOT product quality nor does Generac really care. We will NEVER buy another Generac product from here on in. We did nothing wrong, just used it (usually with 1 120V circuit plugged in and that's it. HORRIBLE product satisfaction. We will NOT be buying such items from Amazon again, unless Amazon sells them...no 3rd party sellers... The run around we have gotten for the last 2 days about the servicing and Generac's support is very very uncalled for nor realistic. We have a job to do and can't get it done due to a failed product. Broken products like this REQUIRE immediate attention...not a run around. ... show more

  • Hurricane Milton provided the first real test of the generator
Being near landfall of Hurricane Milton, I knew we would lose power. I had purchased this generator after Hurricane Ian destroyed the power grid, Milton provided the first real test. Yes, power went out Wednesday night during the peak winds of Milton. I rolled out the generator Thursday morning after winds had subsided and hit the starter. The generator cranked right up, switched the 50 Amp switch and we had power in the house (I had an electrician install a manual switch over after purchasing and a heavy 50 amp cable). The unit powered the central A/C, lights, tv, refrigerator, hot water heater, and pool pump - and never missed a beat. Fuel use - ran the generator for approx 9 hours Thursday, refilled with gas, ran for another 11 hours on Friday, and then had to run for another 3 hours to burn all the fuel from the tank on Saturday after power was restored. I would estimate that running the whole house, we would get anywhere from 13 to 15 hours/tank, more without the a/c. Things that I wish I had bought before - a sound deadening tent to protect the generator from rain and to muffle sound (with the exhaust pointed away from the house the noise wasn't bad inside the home - however, the noise did carry away from the house and I wanted to be considerate of neighbors. Great investment if in an area where you may have extended power outages. While a heavy piece of equipment, it rolls pretty well over hard surfaces. Easy to set up for use, reliable, sturdy, and provides ample power. ... show more
