The Generac dealer sales guy, the Generac sales rep, and the Generac installer all said the new 26kW generator couldn’t be connected via Ethernet - it has built-in wifi and that was it. Well, that built in wifi was very unreliable, even with an access point right near by. It might work for a week before inexplicably disconnecting, and the only way to get it back online was to go out to the generator and stumble through the menus to re-do the wifi setup. Infuriating! This little module is way overpriced but it gets the job done. Installation was fairly straight forward, just disconnect the existing wifi 8-port connector from Port 1 on the underside of the controller and plug in this module. Run an Ethernet line in to the module and it’s reliably online! I put in a MobileLink support request to transfer my subscription over to the new module and they took care of it very quickly. This worked great on my 2015 Generac 22kw house backup generator and everything went good BUT, the instructions are not very clear. Don’t be afraid to get help so you don’t mess up your generator.

I call about my Generac which was showing it to exercise biweekly which it does but the app shows it weekly. They assured me it sounded like a glitch and they will fix and email me the results . A week went by no email or call so I called again and had to give all information all over again and they say this time my generic I purchased in 2017 is not part of a warranty. I said what does that have to do with me just buying the WIFI device 2 weeks ago, installing it and purchasing a years subscription on it? Beside you guys were supposed to call or email the results but now it a warranty issue! He asked do I have a workorder number? I said there were no discussions on any type of workorder number, only that I would be informed by email. So I canceled the subscription and will use the free version of the app. These people don't communication your last call and info to there peers. You have to start all over with serial number and your problem like you've never called them in your life. Yes they are truly incompetent! ... show more

Took me about 30 minutes to remove the old modem based monitor and pair this one to the app and my wifi. Now reports through the Mobile Link app, which you can use without a paid subscription. Installed quick and JustWorks. Just install the MobileLink app in your mobile ahead of time. Keep an eye on the price, I've seen this go for 150-210 in this listing within a month.

My generator that I purchased this product for did not have the Gen 2 Evolution controller. The instructions that came with the Mobile Link didn't include any information to help you identify which controller your generator has. Because there are two different instructions based on if your generator had Gen 2 or Gen 1 of the controller, the Mobile Link couldn't communicate with my home Wi-Fi. I had to waste 40 minutes waiting in a queue at Generac and then have them get back to me the next day. It would have been an easy installation if this had been more clear. If you have a Gen 1 controller, you need to use the additional wiring bundle that comes with this product which allows you to hook it up directly to the batter in your generator. A simple solution that just wasn't made clear. I hope Generac updates their online instructions as well as the paper instructions that come with the unit. Other than this issue, it works great and lets me know if there is a problem before I discover the generator won't start and it's minus seven below outside. ... show more

I have a 2015 Generac generator and it works well with it. I like how easy it was to install. The phone app and annual subscription were also quite simple to set up. I installed this to help remind me when maintenance is due on the generator.
