A quiet, lightweight addition to your RV and a cost-effective power solution, this Digital Hybrid generator is smaller, quieter, lighter BETTER! Champion’s recoil start features Cold Start Technology, plus the reliable 224cc Champion engine produces 4250 starting watts and 3500 running watts, and runs for 22 hours at 25% load when the 4-gallon fuel tank is full. With a 0.6-quart oil capacity (included 10W-30) and a low oil shut-off sensor, this inverter operates at 64 dBA from 23 feet, which is a bit louder than normal speech. Confidently connect your sensitive electronics since this inverter produces Clean Power (less than 3% THD). Our Quick Touch Panel offers fast access to all your controls. • 3-Year Review! Still working perfectly but get the Wheel Kit!
Style: 4250-Watt + Gas
I needed a generator I could depend on during natural disasters and outages so I eventually settled on this Champion Open Frame Inverter Generator. For those that don't know, Inverter Generators output Clean Power (sine wave) and are safe for sensitive electronics like Computers and TV's which I definitely want to power during an outage. Inverter Generators are also very efficient and burn less gas than traditional generator types. They are also much quieter, although this one is an 'open frame' and not the 'ultra quiet' enclosed version it's still not overly loud. The main reason I wanted an 'Open Frame' and not the 'Ultra Quiet' are for many reasons. The Price is much cheaper of course. Everything is SUPER EASY to access for maintenance. The air filter, spark plug, oil drain, fuel lines, carburetor, etc. These are like a Toyota, simple and basic and easy to work on. Should work for a very long time. However after using it for the first time I quickly realized the 75+lbs are a pain to move around anytime I wanted to use it and worked up a sweat before I even turned it on. Champion sells a wheel kit and it's not cheap ~$50 but it works great and now the generator is PERFECT. Super easy to move around now. One other thing you need is to get an adapter if you want to be able to use all 3500W because the 30 Amp plug has a RV connection. The adapter is TT-30 male to L5-30 female and this will allow you to connect a standard generator power cord that can give you access to all of the power. Otherwise you can use the basic 120v plugs but you are limited to 20 amps ~2400 watts or so. I bought a generator cord that splits into 3 standard plugs on the other end so I can plug everything I need without worrying about power limitations up to 3500W. This generator still runs smoothly and has powered everything I have thrown at it and adjusts itself instantly for high loads like a 1500w Microwave. I've plugged in my entire TV set up, Computer, Refrigerator, Window AC, Coffee Maker, etc and it handles everything without breaking a sweat. I don't need a giant expensive generator to power my entire house, just something to power the essentials. This has been one of the best investments I have made for emergencies and every time I need to use it I am very glad I have it. Starts up on the first pull without a fuss. One last thing I should mention is that it has a fuel shut off valve and that's how I shut off this generator every time time. Basically you shut the valve off and run it until it burns off the remaining gas until it shuts down that way so no gas is left in the generator/carburetor that can gum up over time during storage. This will make the generator very reliable and start up every time you need it! Hope this helps! ... show more

  • Great mid-size unit that's 99% perfect
Style: 4250-Watt + Gas
I bought this unit to power up a Halloween Display walkthrough at a property I own that has no power. I chose this unit for the larger tank and inverter / eco-mode technology. There are many others around the same size and some a little cheaper but most have a tank less than half the size. This 4 gallon tank allowed me to run all day without fear of running out, no matter the power load. I imagine other ones, you'd risk running out overnight if you were RV'ing. First, pros: * Inverter generator so it's quieter than a comparable sized standard unit. * Also has Champion's ECO mode so it will auto-adjust throttle based on load. Great to not be running full tilt when you have minimal load and idle will suffice. * Nice large tank especially at this price point/size Now the cons: * A little unwieldy to have to move often by yourself. It's not too heavy but is a little awkward to move. Wheels would help and it looks like it's set up to add a kit, but would've been a nice bonus if they were included. * The fuel filter/strainer in the gas fill is annoying. I found it nearly impossible to fill the tank with it in place, and taking it out to make refueling easier defeats the purpose entirely. It would be much better served with an in-line somewhere instead. or at the very least, without the stupid cross bar in the strainer that prevents you from putting a nozzle in. * I fear for the recoil assembly - I had one sheer the fins on my 2000w champion at the same time I bought this, and now I worry that this one isn't built any stronger and I might need to stock up on parts early - the 2000 was a nightmare to find a replacement for. * Nit-picking because many generators are this way, but it would be SO nice if someone would place the pull handle in a direction that you can start it while facing the machine's controls, instead of behind it. Especially on machines that have a choke, you have to pull the choke out, move to behind the unit, start it, then hurry back in front to turn the choke back off. Just clock the thing another 120 degrees or so and let me start it from the front! As an inverter, it's definitely quieter than my larger non-inverter I have. However it's still a decent volume, so I built a small insulated enclosure to house it. This made it harder to start since the recoil faces the rear of the unit (most generators seem this way to me). Other than the fuel filling being a pain due to the stupid strainer, the unit was rock solid the entire season. It never took more than 2 pulls (awkward angle mostly), and ran without a hitch, a minimum of 4 hours nightly with longer weekend hours and 10 hours straight on Halloween (single tank!). I ran a 30 amp cord into a breaker panel to feed all my circuits for lights and props, and it worked flawlessly. I love Champion's eco mode to leave it as an adjustable throttle to only spin up under higher loads, which really helps to keep noise to as low as possible. It's my 3rd Champion, and is currently in deployment at another house as an emergency backup for winter. Zero doubt in my mind that it'll start on the 2nd pull, and run all night and then some if it needs to. ... show more

  • ease of starting and compact size
Style: 4250-Watt + Gas
I bought this generator for backing up my 2 refrigerators, sump pump and gas furnace and because it had the inverter for steady reliable power output and the wattage covered these items sufficiently. My last generator caused my refrigerator to die because of the uneven power it put out. I received this 4250 generator and was impressed with the secured packing and compact size. The instructions were clear and it was easy to set up for operation after removing the 2 bolts used to secure the generator during shipment. After adding the supplied oil and adding gas I was able to start this generator on the first pull and was impressed with the reasonable noise level especially with the economy mode switch on. I added a 1 hp motor to test the output and ran this for about 1 hr in both eco mode and normal mode while adding a drill and a refrigerator from time to time while paying attention to the intelligent monitor to see the very steady voltage and frequency output. I liked this feature. The only thing I regret not ordering was the wheel kit which I feel should be included but in any case I ordered it and received it and easily installed the wheels. I would recommend not filling the oil or putting gas in until you install the wheels because you have to turn the generator on its side to install those. Overall I'm happy with my choice and if the support is there if I need it the price is reasonable. ... show more
