This is more an emergency cook stove for home rather than a 'car camping' stove It is a cross between a 'rocket stove' and a cast iron gas stove. It's too heavy for hiking but will use anything from charcoal to wood for fuel so great for emergency use and large enough for serious cookware and stability. Although it is too heavy for backpacking it is a kickass stove. The quality is 100%. The stove is very stable and is great for large cast iron cookware, even a 14" cast iron wok, yes 14" ! Insulated chimney, the ability to feed longer fuel [branches, split wood, etc], the fire burns HOT if you wish. The cast iron grate on top is very stable, and the base inside is stone, like a pizza stone, and along with the insulated walls, once heated, will keep what is on top [like a coffee pot, etc.] warm for quite a while. The media could not be loaded. So simple and fuel efficient. Fired it up and in 5 mins was cooking cheeseburgers. Cast iron top is amazing. Get one for emergency stocks. I got two.

I was very happy when I received this stove. It seems very solid an well built. I was a little bummed out that the rack portion that holds longer pieces of wood was damaged on arrival. If it wasn't for the damaged piece I would give this 5 stars.

I just tried this out with a simple water boiling test. I used a small amount of paper and kindling sticks to get it going. I didn’t time it, but I started with cold water and it started boiling in less than 40 minutes from lighting the initial fire. Now that the fire is going real strong, I’m sure the time to boil is reduced considerably. Also, with all the fire brick insulation, the outside of the stove is very warm to the touch. I could easily keep my bare hand on it. It also doesn’t take much wood to get the job done. I’m using packing material wood which is arguably not the best choice, but this performs really well. The only “con” I can see so far, and you should expect this, is that you’ll get soot collecting on any pot or pan used. If the power goes out and I need to boil water, the soot will be the least of my concerns. I definitely recommend this stove. ... show more

This GasOne Rocket stove arrived quick and I am surprised of the quality for the price. It is a bit heavy but like it is built to last, unfortunately this did not come with a storage bag but that is an easy fix.

When I bought this stove some months ago, it was on sale for around $60, so i though.. well why not? The stove takes pretty much any solid fuel there is. Wood shavings, paper, small branches, thicker branches, firewood (cut to size), pine cones, leafs, dried dung, coal, and whatever else can be used as a solid fuel. The stove burns hot, and the cast iron top make it easy to use it for cooking or heating water for coffee/tea. Just two notes of import: 1. depending on the fuel, there can be significant amount of ash thrown or expelled from the top. So careful when using paper, cardboard or pinecones for example. 2. the thing gets hot, and I mean really hot. It has a great insulation, which also means that it will take quite a long time to cool down after the flames and coals have gone out. ... show more
