I purchased this keyboard almost 2 years ago. I do a lot of work on the move, and having the clever little keyboard that fits in my pocket is very handy. While the compact size is a big bonus, there are necessary tradeoffs in that the keys are smaller than full size and the number row is shifted right a bit. These are issues that become manageable with practice. In addition to the regular keys, there is a function key that enables control of brightness, audio playback, screen capture, moving to the Home Screen or Search, and checking the battery. The battery life is excellent, and it is easy to pair, connect to, and switch between up to three devices. The keyboard is easiest to use when laid on a hard, flat surface. A table or desk is best, but a clipboard, binder, or hard book can work when using the keyboard on a lap. Recently, several of the keys on my keyboard stopped responding. The instructions that come with the keyboard have a Arteck customer service email. I wrote to them and they suggested some trouble shooting ideas. When those didn’t work, they let me know that my device was still under warranty as I had purchased it less than 24 months ago. A replacement arrived 2 days later. The fifth star in my rating is because this product is backed up by Arteck making this a solid purchase for anyone looking for a versatile, reliable, portable keyboard. ... show more

I got this product to use with my iPad and it works amazing. It automatically connects to my iPad when I open the keyboard. It has AMAZING charge life, and it is so sturdy and compact.     • Too Small, but great customer service
Years ago, I owned a Targus Stowaway for the Handspring PDA (See also: Palm Pilot PDAs & Keyboards). It folded up, and was very convenient and comfortable to type on. It was heavy, with a metal housing, but I was okay with that. I was a high school student, and very hard on things I used regularly. In my experience, the thing was nearly bulletproof. The PDA sat in a cradle on the back side of the keyboard, upright in a comfortable position for writing. I loved it, and I've been trying to replace it ever since. This does make me a bit biased, since my bar is already set very high. I've made a lot of concessions for the modern era, but I feel like the few things I do still ask for out of a keyboard are relatively important. GOOD STUFF: The keyboard does one of those things folds into a convenient size. It's slim and lightweight, which initially impressed me, and I thought it was going to work. It doesn't feel bulletproof, but it doesn't feel too incredibly cheap, either. Unfolding it was nicely smooth, and featured some of the mechanical feeling that I loved in the Targus Stowaway. BAD STUFF: My biggest concern is that it's TOO small, both horizontally and vertically. I type a lot, so I don't typically need to look at my keyboard while typing. In fact, it's a huge pain if I do have to look down, because I constantly have to stop what I'm doing, when typically I type as naturally as I write. But with this keyboard, I constantly have to check every other keystroke to make sure I'm not, say, hitting DEL instead of Backspace. This is a really big deal for someone who types a lot. Not only that, but having to bend your wrists in an awkward position for any length of time is very bad for them, and I already have problems with my wrists. Oh, and the battery is sealed in. You can't replace it. NICE TO THINK ABOUT: I wish it had a prop for my phone, in place of the cradle on Targus and Palm keyboards (which, btw, had no need for batteries), but that doesn't exist on any modern-day device, with the assumption that you have a secondary method for propping your phone up. So I'm marginally at peace with what I consider to be a strangely ubiquitous omission among Bluetooth devices. (I don't want to replace my case -- I'm still hard on things, and the one I have survives my job and my lifestyle -- and I prefer not to carry a second item around.) I'm keeping this device, because I've already discarded the packaging, but mainly as a backup in case I don't have my other Bluetooth (which doesn't fold, takes AAAs, and has seen better days). For multiple reasons, some outside the scope of this review, I would honestly rather just go on eBay and replace the missing parts for my uncomplicated, distraction-free PDA, along with its bulletproof keyboard, software and drivers and all, than go through what I'm dealing with right now. TAKEAWAY: I don't care if it's bigger or heavier. I just need it to do the job it was made to do, and would prefer if I could do that without constantly missing keystrokes or hurting my wrists. EDIT: The company responded and offered to reimburse me for the keyboard and send a new one. I highly commend their unexpectedly prompt response.     • Function’s Beautifully. Love it.
I write about 3000 words a day on my iphone. 99% of what i do is on my iphone— no longer bother even with the iPad mini other than watching films. Own an earlier version of this keyboard—same sized and feel of the keys- which folds in the middle and has no function keys— the issue is when Im walking or in the subway want to write with the iphone on my lap— that keyboard will collapse in the middle as there is no rigid support. This Arteck has a solid center as it folds with wings on both sides— so typing with it on my lap is a non issue— its brilliant. Slightly larger than my other folding keyboard- as it has the function keys— still easy to put in my back pocket. The typing experience for me even on this smaller keyboard is great— the tactile feel of the keys is first rate and i can type as fast as i can on a full keyboard. This keyboard also allows you to use multiple keyboards at a touch of an FN button— up to three—previous to this the only other keyboard that could do this was my other favorite portable keyboard— the mid sized Logitech which is what I use at home with my iphone, iPad mini, and MacAir. It is too big to carry with me all the time. I dont like or understand “working at home” when Im home I dont want to work— its my safe and free space— the Arteck folding keyboard allows me to use my existing time to work— waiting in my truck, walking the city, or on the subway— its amazing how much work you can get done by focusing and piggybacking on “existing time”. This is a Brilliant Keyboard and feels great. Will probably buy another as a backup. Because i write so much on my iphone— the fingers have developed on both hands- a carpel tunnel kind of tendinitis—10 years and 16,000 pages of writing on the iphone without a keyboard. This keyboard alleviates that issue and takes the stress off my fingers. It is amazing how productive you can get by doing EVERYTHING on your iphone. You can run your whole business easily on your iphone. This keyboard is a game changer and I love using. ... show more
