  • Always good to have a spare
Color: For Square Tow Arm
I’m on a cross country recumbent trike adventure that will cover 4000 miles so there needs to be a back up for my Burley connector, just in case the original breaks in the middle of nowhere.

  • fit my WIKE trailer
Color: For Round Tow Arm
It was a little small wrapped 10mil tape to tighten up. I bought it as a spare and installed to make sure it would fit. WIKE had them in stock in Europe I didn't want that shipping nightmare.

  • Dangerous, may allow trailer to flip
Color: For Round Tow Arm
I purchased this because Burley advises that it be replaced after 5 years or so. As my trailer is 15 years old, I thought it would be a good idea even though there was nothing obviously wrong with my existing coupling. I've been using my Burley child trailer as a dog trailer. There's a state park about 4 miles from my home. I ride to the park with my dog in the trailer. Once at the park, I let him out and ride on the trails at the park with him following, trailer empty (he loves it). These trails are wooded and have lots of roots and rocks. I'd never had a problem towing the empty trailer and liked keeping it with us in case I wanted to put the dog back in. After replacing the coupling, we went to the park and began our normal route. In the course of travelling the first mile of the trail, the empty trailer flipped on its side 5 times. This was no fluke. The rubber coupling that comes with this kit is much softer and more flexible than the original It seems that this allows the trailer to more easily twist when going over bumps. I ordered the original burley part. It is much stiffer (like the original) and the trailer no longer flips over when empty on the trail. While having more weight in the trailer would likely make it less likely to flip, I wouldn't want to chance the use of this part for any purpose. ... show more

  • wire lock pin is breaks after about a year
Color: For Round Tow Arm
we use our trailer more than most; nearly every day. The wire lock pin is not designed to last - there's a small piece of metal that is crimped around the wire that secures the wire lock pin. It came un-crimped on our stock on that came with our burley d'lite and also on this OEM replacement part. It needs to be fixed. I suppose you won't have a problem if you use this trailer once a month or a just a couple time per year. Planning to replace the part with a quick release t-handle. I will report back on how this goes. Burley: please redesign this part. The crimp on the wire lock pin is stupid and you know it. ... show more
