Description

A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Nissan Titan (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

  • Nice hitch but bad design for my truck
I bought this to be able to use to carry bikes or what not on the front of the truck. This issue with this hitch is I have to remove my factory pro4x skid plate to be able to install it. The other issue is the way it installs and you have to fish bolts or nuts through the inside of the frame. That means it a 1 time install and not really deigned to be removed. I want a hitch that I can remove when not being used. This hitch was not the style I was looking for. Time to have one custom made. ... show more

  • have to remove the valance
I purchased this mount for my 2014 Nissan Titan. It fit as described, but there is one modification to the instructions. I have an "SV" model, which has a front valance below the bumper. It was necessary to remove this to fit the mount into place. The plates for the cross bar were easy to install. Drilling the new holes in the frame rails was easy enough with a step drill. The fish wires worked well to get the hardware into place. It is necessary to grind away some of the head flange on the 1/2-13 carriage bolts to get them through the openings in the frame rails. When re-installing the tow hooks in the front of the truck be cautious in the order you put the bolts back in place. The new bolts in the kit are too long to install unless you remove or modify the bumper. I re-used one of the factory bolts on each side, leaving the new bolt with round washer VERY loose to get the old bolt in place, then tightened all fasteners to spec. All in all the installation wasn't too bad. It took longer than i expected, but was simple enough. I will modify the front valance to allow for re-installation with the mount in place. ... show more

  • Five Stars
Good purchase.

  • Great product, poorly thought out instructions and ill-fitting hardware
5 stars for the actual bracket from Curt, but 3 stars for ease of installation and accuracy of instructions. This is my second Curt product and it's incredibly well built, but they missed on the installation with a couple of issues: 1) instructions have errors on a few of the pages ("FRONT/REAR" on the diagram is incorrect on page 2, correct in the other 2 diagrams shown) 2) the 1/2-13x1-1/2" carriage bolts (item #3) do NOT fit through the slot in the lower frame rail as described. The Curt kit is claimed to fit model year 2009 - current, so it is possible that Nissan changed the slot dimension on my 2011. Or, Curt changed hardware suppliers and the new bolts are a different dimension then those in the original design. In any event, there is no way to get the large mushroom head of the fastener to the inside of the frame rail without modification. I found that I needed grind ~1/8" off one edge (parallel to the square head on the underside of the fastener) to allow the fastener to fit through the opening. You will need to modify all four to get them to fit. Take a look at the photo of the stock and modified fastener in my packaging feedback since I can't attach a photo to this review. 3) it is impossible to torque all the fasteners if you follow the installation instructions. They instruct you to install the hardware for the two brackets to the frame rails "finger tight", then to bolt the cross-member in place and torque it's bolts to 70 ft lb. You are then supposed to torque the frame fasteners...which is now impossible to do. The two rearmost hex flange nuts on each side can be torqued, but you cannot torque the front two M12 bolts. The most forward because the bumper is in the way...it's clear that the factory tow hooks are installed BEFORE the bumper is attached to the vehicle. You have two choices, either remove the bumper (huge number of fasteners, electrical connections and work), or as I did, use the longest combination wrench that you own and tighten as much as you can. The spec calls for 86 ft lbs, which you will be hard pressed to do with a wrench, so tighten away. The bigger issue is the second bolt from the front. The cross-member now blocks access to the bolt head, so now you need to drop the cross-member back out, torque the frame fastener and then reinstall the cross-member. Since these fasteners carry all the load for the factory tow hooks, it's important that they be properly torqued, but again, there's no way to get to the front most fastener. Curt needs to change the instructions to properly reflect the correct installation order and needs to provide hardware that actually fits...without modification. As a result of the above challenges, plan on a good 4 hours for installation. If you have a lift that handle your truck, you might trim an hour or so, but it is NOT a 45 minute installation as they mention in the instructions. Again, I'm very pleased with the quality of the product and the final installed product, but as a skilled mechanic I expect a lot more and this could prove to be a very frustrating experience for an occasional user laying on their back in their driveway. ... show more
