  • solid and fun workout
Style: Water Rower
first thing i noticed is its built from solid steel parts, not typical lightweight aluminum. i weighed 320 pounds when i started and it held me without making any noise. i think the rollers might wear out in 1-2 years. i am thinking about buying spare parts just to have them. every single part is replaceable and the manual has a detailed parts map. the strap is a wide and strong nylon, very smooth to pull. the water sound is relaxing and resistance is great. i think the key on this machine is to keep changing up your stroke every 5-10 strokes to work different muscle groups. some trainers even recommend not using your legs at all - make it an upper body and core workout. this machine works great in many different ways. we even put our feet flat on the floor to do upper body work. my favorite stroke is pulling high and returning low - like a real rowboat lol. the angled water basin is great too because the water resets faster. the flat water rowers take longer to reset between strokes. we're finding its a pretty good workout even at level 2. if you go 30 minutes, you'll feel it all over, even if you are an olympic ocean rower. the only negative is that the little computer is garbage. it was made in the 80s i think. they added the bluetooth and put a phone holder right over the display because they know its bad. i didn't take off a star for this because the display doesn't really matter. we just put a timer on our phone and row. i tried getting registered for their app but registration is broken. i am a programmer and tried a lot of different ways, including desktop and mobile. i tried contacting the app developers too, but no reply. if you are buying this for the computer or app, i'd say look around. another vendor sells the exact same machine without the bluetooth app for a few bucks less. we have a couple other pieces of equipment from Fitness Reality, so i went with them. they put their label on solid machines. overall this is probably the best rower under $600. ... show more

  • Great investment
Style: Water Rower + 1 Year App Subscription
It was an excellent decision to choose this RF rowing machine to start taking care of myself. The machine is very easy to put together, it didn't take me more than 45 minutes to do it. The programs it includes seem useful and varied. It has six levels of resistance according to the amount of water in the tank. I have used it for a week and I am very happy with my purchase. The only detail is that the screen is not very clear, it lacks brightness because you can hardly see the results of routines. I got this rowing machine during Black Friday and paid just over $300 for it. Considering how complete the exercise is and the quality of the materials, I think it was an excellent investment. ... show more

  • Incredible rower for the price!
Style: Water Rower
I have owned the Fitness Reality Water Rowing Machine for 3 months now and I love it. I ordered this machine like many of you during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to work on my cardio at home. Having not heard of Fitness Reality before, I was a little skeptical of the brand but decided it was worth the gamble since the gyms were shut down. What follows is my in depth review: Rowing: This rower works differently from your typical air rower because it uses a turbine that spins in a sealed tank of water. Not only is the resistance adjustable by adding more water, but the feel of rowing is more natural as if you are actually rowing on open water. I find this to me a much more enjoyable experience then the air rowers you find at most gyms. As a bonus, the sound of the water sloshing around is actually quite pleasing. I have not added water to adjust resistance, so I can't comment on the difference. However I am a fairly strong guy and putting the water level on 2 is plenty of resistance for me. Screen: The screen, which is battery powered, is extremely basic. It displace time, distance, calories, and strokes. To be honest though, this is all you need. I can't see a reason why you'd need much else besides a heart rate monitor, which most people these days wear on their wrist anyway. I would have liked to see a backlight, but that's a very minor complaint. I also love that it has a ridge which you can rest your phone/tablet etc. on. I typically watch youtube on my phone while I'm rowing and the time flies by. Foot Rests: One concern I noticed with other rowing machines is the foot rests coming loose or falling apart. I can confirm that the foot rests on the Fitness Reality rower do not have any of those issues. They are extremely sturdy. However, I am not a fan of the design. Although they stay firmly in place, the back brace that sits behind your ankle and above your heel is too high and too thick. Your shoe will end up getting caught in the cutout and then the brace will scrape the crap out of your ankle. The only solution I can think of is to add extra padding overtop of it, but not something you want to do on a brand new item. Personally, I've gotten used to it. But it is definitely a big design flaw for me. App Functionality: This rowing mahcine is advertised as being 'MyCloud Fitness' compatible. It's evens tamped right on the screen. Unfortunately, it is not supported. The app itself is not bad, it lets you track your weight and workouts, but without any capablity to sync to the rowing machine it is worthless to me. This is a huge issue marketing-wise, and I'm unsure why they would even advertise it if it is not supported. But there is a possibility this may change in the future. Build quality: Now here is where the majority of my complaints lie. There are quite a few quality control issues I've noticed with this machine. First and foremost, straight out of the box there are parts that have rust on them (see photos). It appears the manufacturer used paint instead of powdercoat and it was already chipping off exposing bare metal in certain areas which were rusting already. This is very concerning to me, and does not indicate the machine will have a long lifespan. However, most of the chipped/rusty elements are not vital to the structural integrity of the machine so I decided not to bother. Another issue on my machine was the bolt holes for the screen. They are not aligned correctly, and no matter what I do I could not get the screen to sit straight. So the screen and shelf for my phone are at a slight angle all the time, which is minor but really annoying if you're a bit OCD like me. Lastly, I would have liked to see Better quality rollers under the seat. While they do glide perfectly fine, they are made of some type of hard plastic instead of rubber (or actual bearings). Because of this, they have worn down a little over time and I notice some plastic shavings on the rail that weren't there initially. I don't think it's a big issue, but again it makes me question how long the lifespan of this machine will be. What I am very impressed with is the water tank and turbine itself. They are built very well, and I have not had even a drop of water leak out. I also really like that this machine can be stood up vertically so you can put it in a corner and have it out of the way completely when not in use. Conclusion: The Fitness Reality Water Rowing Machine is an excellent choice for the average person looking to get in shape. While it does suffer from a few build quality issues, it is an overall sturdy machine that functions exactly as designed. You won't find the bells & whistles from higher end machines like Concept-II, but for the price this is an absolute steal. Highly recommended! TLDR; Pros: -Great Price -Water Rowing feels natural -Solid foot rests -Can store vertically Cons: -Sub-par build quality -App is not supported -Footrests may scrape ankle ... show more

  • Enjoyed it a lot, but after three uses, its already leaking water from the tank
Style: Water Rower
I purchased this rower and was pleased with how easy it was to setup and it felt sturdy. the app was also pretty intuitive and easy to use. Unfortunately, I went to move the rower today and found a puddle under the water tank. Amazon seems to be working with me on refunding the product, but very disappointed. ... show more

  • Excellent exercise option for winter
Style: Water Rower + 1 Year App Subscription
I was going to buy a treadmill, but my gym coach recommended a rower as a better option since it allows to exercise a wide range of muscles, in the legs, arms, and core/back. The Fitness Reality machine fits the bill perfectly - it is sturdy, nice looking, and well made. The Bluetooth connection is nice, but I found it to be not always able to pair, will be looking some more into it. The best thing about the machine is the vertical water wheel - water rowers allow to choose your own level of effort dynamically (as its resistance is proportional to the pull force, unlike magnetic). It also makes a pleasant splashing sound, making it a more realistic rowing experience. To boot, this was the best price/quality water rower option I found. ... show more
