as someone that has used ankle braces for over 25 years, after an evulsion fracture was misdiagnosed as a sprained ankle, I have tried every different brace in hopes to find one that would relieve the arthritic discomfort and weakness. Most days I don’t need to wear a brace, but if it is a damp multiday rain or below 25, I will have one on. I find ankle braces fall into a couple of groups - the comfortable and the supportive. as you give up comfort, support increases and vice versa. Wearing this brace for the last few days as our temperatures have consistently been, I can safely say that this one breaks the mold. I will also advise you to read the instructions…my first inclination would have been to put this brace on upside down. The back completely opens up so your foot slides in…there is a soft band that fits around your arch and the tarsal area. then two separate velcro straps close up behind the achilles tendon. at this point you can really begin to feel the stabilizing support on the anterior ankle. lastly, you tighten the elastic bands and your whole ankle can feel the support. I really like this brace because it easy to get on and off, comfortable to wear over the course of the day, provides support but doesn’t limit range of motion. All the support has also been engineered without creating tons of bulk which impacts how your shoe or boot feels. I have had some wonderfully supportive braces that were completely impractical if you needed to wear shoes. lastly, many times a brace will cause a blister from riding the achilles tendon; however, this ankle brace has not caused any problems like that. I am actually really impressed. when we moved a few years ago my wife found the storage container which contained my collection of ankle braces. there must have been at least 20 braces that I have tried to use and found problems. she convinced me to toss them, since I still have plenty of “active” braces which I think I am going to throw away today…I have finally found the ankle brace that meets all my needs! I’ve been having problems with my ankles for a few years now. I usually use some kink of support to prevent sudden ankle movement while walking and also to give me relief from pain. This ankle support is very different from the ones that I’ve been using till now. The material is very durable and it’s well made. The other supports were very hard to put on and take off and caused stiffness after a few hours wearing them. This support on the other hand, is much easier to put on and take off and it doesn’t cause ankle stiffness, pressure on ankle or pain after having it on for a few hours.
