  • Great quality, just not what I needed
4Pin switching stereo jacks come in two versions: normally open, and normally closed. Unfortunately this one didn't say which (or I didn't find it), so I took the plunge and got it, but it's not the one I needed. In both cases, the switching occurs when you plug/unplug a connector into the receptacle, opening or shorting a connection to ground, depending on the type of jack. This jack is normally open, i.e. the 4th connector will NOT be connected to ground, until you plug in your cable. Once you do, the 4th connector is physically and electrically connected to ground. The other way around, like this one http://www.amazon.com/6-35mm-Female-Nickel-Plated-Connector/dp/B010GN9UHO/ (this is mono, but the switching is the same) is a normally closed switch. i.e the switch connection to ground will break once you insert your plug. ... show more

  • The solder connections are different from my Martin's Fishman existing jack!
I have a 2013 Martin DC Aura F1 guitar, with the Fishman Aura F1 pickup system. When you plug a guitar cable in, it is intermittent and now unreliable. I bought this Fishman/Switchraft jack to replace my endpin jack, but the solder lugs are different from my original. I have attached 2 photos to show the differences- my original has the wires soldered to it. The instructions that came with it do not enable me to know which colored wires to solder to which terminals, and since mine is intermittent I can't do a resistance test to figure it out. I plan to take the guitar to a shop to have the replacement work done. Bummer! ... show more

  • Highly recommended! Great product.
Great device and fairly easy to install. I say fairly as the wire connectors are really close in a small space. Obviously, it has to be this way to for the instruments. None the less, skip that cup of coffee before you start the soldering as there is no room for shaky hands! Installed this on my son's Ibanez Mikro and it fits great. I was able to put the small face plate over the factory jack between the finishing nuts on the Switchjack with only a little metal filing in the hole of the plate. Easy to do by hand and took 5 minutes for a clean job. Once installed, the jack is tight on the plug as it should be, and prevents all the noise experienced with the stock connector. ... show more

  • Exactly what I needed
This jack is a direct replacement for the defective jack that was in my Guild acoustic/electric bass. The problem with the original jack was there was an occasional popping sound coming from my amp when I moved on stage. I could reproduce the problem by wiggling the instrument cable while it was plugged in to my bass. My Guild bass has a Fishman transducer pickup with 3 band EQ and this part was recommended by the Fishman factory. For about 17 dollars, it was a great price too! ... show more

  • Bought for the name and the quality instructions
I bought this over cheaper products because of the very helpful diagrams they include. Just note, you are going to have to drill a big hole through the endblock of your guitar. My first soldering job, and it went very smoothly.

  • Great for Taylor/Fishman 'Prefix' replacement jack
My 1999 Taylor 310ce (with the Fishman 'Prefix' system) was intermittently cutting out at the output jack... contacted Fishman who lead me to this product. Great replacement part; virtually identical (one additional connector, probably for a stereo version of the Prefix... just didn't hook that connector up) A little bit of soldering (and I'm not expert, but it was doable) and it fixed the problem. Did a gig last night and it worked fine! ... show more

  • Direct replacement
Over time the endpin jack on my Rodriguez guitar wore out and the connection became intermittent. This item was a direct replacement. High quality, and no problems since installation.
