  • Yes it rusts and wears out. Embrace the patina!
It's sits low, and is the perefect size. Our stays outside year round and it will last about 3-4 years or so before bowl rusts out too far to be used with burning embers falling thru. It quickly rusts and acquires a "patina" which is a plus by our house aesthetics. For the price point more than happy with this product. Pictures show brand new one and the old one on it's way out. I love looks of the old one. The old one btw, would have continued to be perfectly functional it the bottom didn't wear thru, the metal is thin and wears thru after a few years. If you look close you can see the holes. The screen cover will also rust & wear thru after 2 years outside. ... show more

  • Wrong Hardware, Scratched, and Dented Bowl
The entire bowl was scratched up, which I wasn't going to throw a fit about because I'm going to use it for fires. One side of the lip of the bowl was dented out of shape. Both of these things would have been eyeroll worthy, but not deal breakers. The decorative nut-and-screw combo to secure the two leg arches is too short to fasten it together. The length of screw needed to clear the arch assembly is roughly 1/2", meaning to screw into the nut, you'd need roughly 3/4", and the screw measures just shy of 1/2". I checked ten times to make sure I didn't have the legs wrong, and even if there's some permutation I missed, I absolutely have it how the book is telling me to arrange it, with the G-side pads on the ground and the divoted arch on the underside. I'm going to buy a longer 6mm screw and nut to make this product work, but it has been nothing but problems. There is no 'function' for me to fall back on and say it's redeemed, because presentation and assembly is everything with a product like this. ... show more

  • For the price it hits all our positives, and doesn't have many negatives if any at all.
I read a few of the negative reviews and I won't deny some points made in them. The top is flimsy, I can see where rust is an issue, and while ours came without a dent or any issues the padding of the box could be easily comprimised. As such though we've had it for a little over a month now and have done about 6~7 burns in it and its still growing strong. For the price it's very nice, and we've had several neighbors ask about it, and won't be surprised when they get their own. Setup and assembly was super easy, and we were up and running in minutes. Our package had no missing parts by the way if that matters to anyone. Our experience with this product has been great, and at this point with the amount we've used it, even if there was an issue it's already made it's worth in price. I think the price on it is perfect, any more and we wouldn't give it 4 or 5 stars. ... show more

  • Not heavy duty but very nice looking and effective
This is a really nice looking fire pit. A bit larger than many others, easy to assemble and works well. As others have noted, it is not what you would call heavy duty being stamped from relatively thing gauge metal. I do think many buyers would opt for a "heavy duty" option if that were offered. To extend longevity I did two things before using it. 1. Drill 2-4 small holes in the bottom of the bowel. This will prevent water from sitting in there after it rains. Obviously, if you are using it on a wooden deck or other potentially flammable surface you should NOT do this. 2. Buy a can of high temp spray paint like that used for BBQ grills. I liberally coated the bowel on both sides (did not do the rim or the legs but did spray the screen and the screen lift tool), The good news is that even if you get only a couple years use out of it, the cost is low enough that replacing is not the end of the world. ... show more

  • Nice Fire Pit - Does the job!
Item worked well for what we needed it for. We built a stone fire pit and used this as an insert so it would be easier to clean. It's also nice to have the cover on top. The metal however is pretty thin so as a stand alone piece it looks good, but may not stand up to much abuse. I would also recommend purchasing a cover or drill a small hole to let the water escape so it doesn't rust. I still think it's a good value and I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Disappointing product!
Shop for a product other than this one! 1) The diameter of the cover was too small and did not fit the fire “bowl” ring. 2) Two of the four threads to accept thumb screws for the stand attachment were cross-threaded. 3) The fire “bowl” and cover are made with very thin material and quite flimsy. 4) Grate material is made with small diameter rod and susceptible to bending. ... show more

  • Decent value fire pit.
I did not use the supplied stand but installed as in insert in a round paver fire pit in my patio. Finish is decent but this is a ferrous material that will rust over time. I actually painted mine with a high temperature flat black paint to improve durability and weather resistance. The flat black does not look as nice as the factory finish but that finish begins to rust rather quickly. I also drilled a hole in the center of the bowl to allow water to drain through when it rains. However, this might make a mess if the unit is installed on a patio - not an issue for me since mine sits over a round pit. Overall, I would rate this as a good buy with quality in line with the price. ... show more

  • Good deal for the price. Great customer service
This is a pretty nice, large fire pit for the price. My first pit arrived damaged from transit. I contacted the company directly and sent them a few pictures. They said they were sending me a new one. The new one arrived even more damaged than the first but i was able to use parts from both to create a decent finished product. Both damaged pits were not their fault, UPS must drop kick these friggin things. I do think they could use better packaging, but they sent me replacement immediately. Overall a great deal for the price and it looks really nice. ... show more
