I NEVER brush my dry hair, NEVER....Until yesterday. Afro hair, 3B 4A combo, midback length. I usually wait till wash day to detangle in the shower. This brush had no problems going through my dry, tangled hair. I wasn't too crazy about how it performed in the shower, but I will try again. It felt too flimsy when trying to detangle my wet hair. I felt like firmer bristles were needed. Overall, one of the best detangling brushes I have ever used. Downside, I wish the bristles were firmer. There's a reason for the hype! On first inspection, the brush is super lightweight and the bristles look cheap. I wasn't impressed. Upon further inspection, the handle is sturdy and I do like the look of that part. The lack of weight to it makes it easier for me to hold and use. (I have Rheumatoid Arthritis.) I also have fibromyalgia and my energy is finite so something as simple as brushing my own hair, with it's problems, takes too much energy that could be used for more important things. (Yes, that's the sort of thing you discover with illnesses like these: what is more important than having your hair look civilized.) My hair has become unmanageable with one of my medications. Satin pillowcases, tons of conditioner, barretting every inch of it hasn't mattered. I have baby fine hair that SNARLS in the time it takes for a short nap. It takes between 15 and 30 minutes to sort it out and plenty of hair is extracted in the process. Also, my pain receptors are overly sensitive so...OUCH. I asked my daughter to do the honors. I had not brushed my hair in 3 days. I wanna say that it took her 30 seconds to brush out my hair and there was a single pin prick feeling in that time. She laughed out loud and said, "But that's the part that you throw away!" It does look like other brushes where those little things on the ends of the bristles have come off and when enough of them come off, you toss it and buy a new brush. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the price point. I think of watching Shark Tank and the 1 percenters are saying something to the effect of: You are only making 200% profit?! That's ridiculous. We can't back your product when you're not absolutely GOUGING the struggling masses! ... show more

I'll start off with saying I am a regular customer, with no following or clout to chase for this review, but I was flooded with countless videos about this brush on TikTok. I didn't want to believe any of them. The reviews were too positive and everyone was getting a commission so I didn't know what was true and what wasn't. But I couldn't deny that some of the videos were convincing as I watched the tangles get removed. So I found it on my own on Amazon...all I can say is wow!! I have very long, dense 4b hair, but my hair gets dry easily and I am learning how to care for my natural textures since I grew up religiously getting silk presses. The hardest part of caring for my natural texture is detangling this jungle on the back of my head. My hair reaches my lower back and it's such a pain to brush through it all. I often have to take breaks because I would be actively brushing my hair for an hour and my arms would be on fire. This brush has changed everything for me!!! I went to brush through my hair yesterday and this brush glided through with almost no effort. It didn't slide on top of my hair either, it went all the way through to my ends and I started about halfway up as a test to see what would happen. I was in shock! I just stared at myself in the mirror in disbelief. A couple more passes and the difference was undeniable compared to my normal paddle brush. It only took me 30 minutes to detangle my head all the way from the roots to the ends (which is incredible considering I would normally take an hour of active brushing). I didn't even need to change brushes. Normally I use my wide tooth comb, back it up with a paddle brush and then a smaller brush to get everything detangled. I did my entire head with this brush and followed it up with a normal tooth comb...No kinks left in sight! And the brush is lightweight so my arms felt great still when I was done. Best of all? It didn't hurt at all! I am very tender headed in the back and normally have to work my way from the ends to the roots in tiny chunks to prevent pulling my hair because it would hurt. I felt no pain as this brush separated the strands for me. I didn't even have a crazy amount of hair pulled out like I do with my normal brush. The backing is plastic and has holes so it is insanely easy to clean and you don't have to worry about mildew or germ buildup as long as you wipe it down periodically. I've been calling everyone I know to let them know that the tik tok reviews were not joking! I don't recommend ordering through TikTok since some of those brushes are dupes/knockoffs, but this one right here is the real deal and everybody deserves one! ... show more

    • Not great for truly curly/knotted hair

I really wanted this to work. It’s not that it doesn’t brush well, but if your hair is truly knotted, I found it far more frustrating than a brush with stiffer bristles. My daughter has long, fine, spiral curly hair that starts to almost dread even when in a ponytail. It takes me at least an hour to comb through her knots normally. With this brush, it definitely didn’t “hurt” when I brushed her hair… but it was also super inefficient at getting out the knots. It kind of glides over them. If it’s a loose knot (probably most normal hair) it’s fine. But if you’re dealing with really difficult, truly knotted hair, I did not find this brush to be helpful at all. ... show more

Works very well on tangled hair. I have two kids with tight curl pattern that really appreciate this brush. I use it as well on my fine thin hair and it is far less damaging than any other brush I've used.
