As someone just getting into video work, I think the Feiyutech SCORP-C Combo AI Gimbal has been a really fun starter gimbal with some handy controls that are hard to find on other models. It’s a great choice if you’re looking to get started with a solid stabilizer. One of the standout features is the magnetic AI tracker, which makes vlogging and subject tracking a breeze – though I did notice it doesn’t center the subject perfectly. Hopefully, Feiyutech can improve this with some future software updates! The gimbal’s controls and overall functionality are smooth and comfortable, even for more intense shots like running. However, there are a few design limitations worth noting. Balancing the camera can be tricky, as the knobs are quite stiff – I had to consider using a little WD-40 to loosen them up. Another challenge is the compatibility with heavier lenses; my Sigma 18-35mm lens won’t fit well because the provided plate doesn’t allow enough space to slide the camera back, so this gimbal is really best suited for lighter lenses/setups. The portrait mode feature is super useful for social media, but I wish the design allowed my camera’s flip-out screen to rotate fully, as it gets blocked by the gimbal. This would make it much easier to monitor the screen while filming in portrait. Despite these few drawbacks, this gimbal performs very well for standard video work, providing impressively smooth shots. Overall, as someone primarily using a camera with in-body image stabilization (IBIS), I’m pretty pleased with this gimbal, but there are a few negatives which may or may not apply to you. The only other gimbal I’ve owned was the Hohem iSteady MT2, which I was disappointed by for a number of reasons and ended up selling. Let’s talk about the pros first: The Scorp C has much more powerful motors compared to the MT2, which results in roughly double the payload of the MT2 at 2.5 kgs which coming in at a very similar size. There is an integrated bipod you can use to set the device down instead of the screw-in tripod attachment, although the legs are pretty stiff to deploy initially. The Scorp C uses a standard Arca Swiss mounting plate instead of a proprietary or “almost” Arca Swiss compatible mounting plate, which could let you use a variety of aftermarket plates from manufacturers like Smallrig, Neewer, and Ulanzi/Falcam. There is enough space between the axes to allow for in-line locking of the arms so you can store the gimbal flat even after adjusting the balance for your camera. I did not need to adjust horizon calibration with either of my cameras (Sony a6400 and a6700), which I did need to do with the MT2. Feiyutech’s Scorp app is very responsive and connects to the gimbal without any issues. The app has more granular setting options than the Hohem app, which is nice for me as a power user. Feiyutech offers optional accessories like a focus motor for manual focus lenses. The add-on AI tracker seems very responsive and accurate. The axis locks have a very positive feel. These are the neutral points: There are a lot of different control buttons and features and I definitely recommend reading the manual in its entirety before trying to use the gimbal. Using the gimbal’s default settings, there’s a fair bit of micro wobble during walking shots using a camera without IBIS. I highly recommend using the Feiyutech Scorp app to crank up the dead zone setting for more stable footage. With the dead zone setting at maximum there is just a tiny bit of vertical micro movement with non-IBIS cameras during walking shots that should be very easy to correct in post. After adjusting the dead zone setting, using the gimbal with a camera with IBIS should give you 100% smooth footage. Now for the cons: There is no LCD screen, you will need to upgrade to one of Feiyutech’s higher end models for that. The adhesive for attaching the magnet for the separate AI tracker device is a pretty weak and you may need secondary adhesive application to get the magnet to stick securely. The arm adjustments are pretty stiff and require more force than you would expect to overcome resistance when balancing the gimbal. The joystick is not very precise and it is very easy to overshoot your subject if you are not being careful. It’s probably better to use the gimbal’s wheel control for precise movements. There are limited rigging options with this gimbal. I’m not sure how one would attach a camera monitor or side handles, for example. ... show more

    • Another Excellent Camera Stabilizer with AI tracking
The media could not be loaded. I have used quite a few Affordable gimbals from Feiyu and have found them to be quite good in terms of stability and ease of use so i have continued to be a fan. This combo bundle was another winner for me as it works great with my A7RV even with a 24/70 lens attached to it. For the most part i found the gimbal simple to figure out though I always seem to forget how to do the initial balancing and need to watch a video to help me figure that part out. Luckily its not too hard to slide the arms around on the fei yu. One of my favorite features across all of the gimbals is that it comes with a tracking camera that can track you with a few hand signals as well as take photos and one of the main reasons i chose this gimbal over the likes of other more expensive ones. (plus the price point was within reach for me). Another favorite thing of mine is that all the accessories included work well with my iphone and i dont necessarily need to download the app (although im missing out on some features). the gimbal works fine with just basic use. I included a video of out the box on the tripod tracking with the camera. As you can see it works quite well because it uses an external camera which is super nice.
