I bought this just for protection. It fits A6100 precisely. Lighter than other heavy duty cages with a better access to all dials. I really like the curved shape of its right side frame, which makes griping very comfortable. If you are concerned about the potential scratch due to its contact on the front of the camera body, you can put some thick tape to the back of the cage (and a few other areas, although I don't think absolutely necessary) as buffering , just like what I did. This is a great, innovative product. I highly recommend. Theoretically, it would offer sufficient protection over the plastic body of A6100, but I can only know after an accident. Another tip is that you may pick a case suitable for Sony A7 full frame series to get good fit if you'd like the cage permanently on. Other cases designed for A6100 may be too tight. ... show more

This Smallrig cage with hand grip for the Sony a6100 is a must have! There are plenty of mounts along the cage so you won’t have any issues setting up your camera rig. At first I was hesitant about the larger silicone grip but I would definitely recommend getting a cage with the grip. It makes the camera comfortably fit better in your hands especially since the Sony APSC camera are a bit small. It’s very easy to mount to your camera with the built in magnetic tool. Bought this for my Sonoy A6400 and sure im no profesional that does a lot of video BUT it does come in handy when you want to move the mic from the hot shoe mount to another location while not blocking the screen! plus the grip helps with holding the a6400.

Bought this for my A6400. Even tho it does make the camera bigger and bulkier, and heavier, i do like having the extra options for attachments and a little added safety in case of drops. Looks good. Attaches fairly easily, tools are included in the cage. Feels like good quality. Worth it, especially if you want to do shoots and attach a light or something in a different location than what the camera has. ... show more

    • Almost perfect
This makes the a6400 feel so much better in your hand, but there are a few issues that make this fall a little short from perfect. To set your expectations, I am not a videographer, I am not using the cold shoes or any other attachments, except for the smallrig hand grip, which works perfectly once you loosen it enough to allow your hand to reach the shutter. The main problem I'd love to see solved is with some details of the grip itself. It has two holes on the front: one near the bottom, for the screw that holds the grip in place (why couldn't they put it on the underside?), and one so the grip doesn't block (what I assume is) the IR remote sensor. These two holes have somewhat sharp edges, and they are mildly uncomfortable over long periods of use. Furthermore, the fact that the top of the grip is not held in place by a screw gives me durability concerns. Finally, the screw used to hold the grip is not the same size as the one holding the camera in place through the strap anchor, so the tool used to attach the camera to the cage won't help if you need to make adjustments to the grip on location. The other issue is that the grip puts your fingers closer to the lens, and if you have thicker fingers and a fast lens, there's a lack of real estate and your ergonomics will be compromised. My average fingers get stuck on the Sigma Art 28-70 f2.8. Depending on your personal ergonomics preferences and the way you use the camera, these may not be an issue for you. It's a solid product, and I would recommend it to almost anyone. ... show more

Yep, works with the A6000 even though the reps say it doesn't for some reason. Love the extra grip! Does NOT work with a lens collar like the iShoot S135FE but that's alright. Still enough clearance to move the screen & access the battery bay. The USB door has enough clearance as well. It even came with the small M2.5 screw that another reviewer didn’t receive. ... show more
