This was my first time buying a garbage can with the motion detection feature and it's actually pretty cool. First off, I was going from a tall cylindrical garbage can to this item which is shorter, wider, and rectangular which is definitely a plus as it's much easier to dump in garbage from smaller cans that I have in the bathroom and bedroom. The motion detection feature isn't as sensitive as I've seen from other reviewers who complained that the can opened every time they walked by it. I have a small kitchen and I'm literally in front of it when standing working on the counter and the can does not open. I actually have to wave my hand in close proximity to get it to open. Since this is not a step activated can, it doesn't have the hinge that my old can had and was scratching my refrigerator and the lid doesn't hit the wall or refrigerator like my old can did. My only complaint is that the lid will close shut rather quickly even if you are working in front of it dumping multiple garbage items at one time. It will close on me and them I have to re-wave my hand to get it to open again so that I can finish dumping the garbage. The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased this trash can with an electric sensor lid and wanted to share my thoughts on its performance and design. First off, the can itself is surprisingly lightweight yet remains stable, even when placed on uneven surfaces or when it's nearly full. This balance between being lightweight and stable is a significant plus, as it's easy to move when necessary without compromising on its functionality. However, I've noticed some inconsistencies with the sensor's responsiveness. While the idea of a hands-free lid is appealing, especially when your hands are full or dirty, the sensor doesn't always detect motion accurately on the first try. Sometimes, it requires several attempts, waving your hand back and forth, which can be somewhat frustrating. This issue introduces a minor discomfort in what is otherwise a seamless experience. The trash can also features manual open/close buttons, which, in theory, are a nice backup for when the sensor is uncooperative. In practice, though, I find myself reluctant or unable to use these buttons when my hands are occupied with trash. It's a bit inconvenient, and I wish the sensor's reliability could make these buttons an unnecessary feature rather than a necessary backup. On a positive note, the timing for the lid's opening and closing is spot on. Have to be honest…I didn’t have high hopes for this can. I thought it came with a plastic liner because it showed handles in on picture. That’s not the case. The steel seemed flimsy but for the price I tried it out. Once the bags in and the top is on it becomes a good can. Plus it looks good.

    • STOPPED WORKING WITHIN A YEAR

I purchased Nov 2023 and it stopped working Sept 2024. The lid works when it wants to and when it does the closing is extremely slow or rough (stalling to close). I have changed the batteries twice. Cleaned the sensors and the hinge. Nothing works.
