I have made many items so far using this heat press. It has timer and temp controls as well as pressure adjustment. It is very basic and a highly dependable press which is perfect for my needs. I did check the temperature and mine runs about 20 degrees lower than what the machine tells me. I simply adjust my temp accordingly. I have a small home-based business painting wooden signs and creating other craft items for sale. I have also painted designs on T-shirts for my Aspie boy - people with Autism frequently have a "special interest"/obsession - I could never, ever afford to buy as many T-shirts featuring his special interest as he'd like to own, so I painted them for years. Other people saw and asked for T-shirts like the ones I'd made him, but man, was it time consuming, so I always said no. But the thought of all the sales lost haunted me so I began researching heat presses. I asked for recommendations in my many, many craft groups. I researched reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. I watched a boatload of YouTube videos. I decided on the PowerPress Industrial-Quality Digital 5-by-15-Inch Sublimation T-Shirt Heat Press by Fancier Studio. Shipping was fast - it arrived a mere three days after I ordered! This thing is STURDY! The case (covering?) is a nice strong metal. The handle and other parts are welded steel. It is certainly engineered to last. And it is easy to use! The control panel, from where one sets the temperature and time, is clear and easy to understand. If the item having htv applied to it is thicker than a T-shirt, the Pressure knob on top is easy to adjust. The power source needed is regular ol' 110V - the outlets in every room. One Teflon sheet was shipped with my heat press. I bought a second for about five bucks. One really only needs one, to lay atop the shirt before lowering the lid onto it, but I have always been the anxious sort, so I lay one below the shirt and one above. Completely unnecessary, but it makes me feel better, so don't judge. ;) My research told me heat presses can heat inconsistently across the platen (the "lid" is the part that gets hot), so I also bought a laser thermometer. Being quite a skeptical consumer, I planned to return it quickly if there were the slightest problem. The heat was not perfectly the same in every area of my platen - there was about a 5 degree difference from some areas to others. This inconsistency makes zero difference in the quality of the outcome. I have made dozens of shirts, bags, etc., using several varieties of htv (heat transfer vinyl) and "hotfix" rhinestones, each requiring a different temperature and length of press time. I have not experienced one "oops" other than the time I forgot to remove an extra triangle of htv I used to perfectly align the design. (I need to purchase a "Square it" or other alignment tool.) If you want to sell things decorated with htv and/or rhinestones, do not delay - buy this heat press. You won't be sorry. ... show more

    • 15x 15 Heat Press press works very good and came all set up and ready to use!!!!

The media could not be loaded. Box is heavy 65 lbs. but manageable. At first this 15x15 heat press plate itself looked small but t-shirt designs fit perfectly. The heat press was brand new, got here fast, was already set up, so I didn't have to do anything but plug it in and set the temperature and the time. The handle seems sturdy, this does not have a pull out drawer. It seems to be good quality. To set the temperature, just press temp then select the arrows that go up or down to get the temp that you want, then press temp again to set it. Likewise for the minutes, select time, toggle up and down to your selected time then press time to lock it in. This heater takes a while to heat up but when it does, it gets really hot ! Seems like the top plate is the part that gets hot but after pressing, both plates are extremely hot. Please wait for 20 min for it to cool down, keep kids away. It also has a lil burning smell, but I believe it is because it's brand new and freshly used. Please do yourself a favor, buy some heat gloves to be safe. I posted a short clip of what I pressed. Last night it quit on me but it’s ok because it lasted 4 years and the only reason I am not going to purchase the same one is because am going to get a purple one this time. I purchased this in February of 2013. It's been moved across state lines twice, used countless times, loaned out for school projects, for scout projects, for use by neighbors for charity events, to put on team numbers. Pretty much it's been everyone's heat press. Some friends even bought their own. After owning it for 10 years I have no real complaints. It's heavy as heck, true. It doesn't press as well around the edges as in the center but that's easily remedied using a heat pillow and hey I sag more after 10 years, too! I am writing this review now because I have tried to make space in my craft/office/studio and getting rid of this huge thing would give me that space, but I've used those big brand little heat presses and I can't quit this giant hunk of metal, it's too good. ... show more

Note that my ratings are predicated on value for the money. This unit isnt perfect, but accomplished a whole lot at a very good price point. If you’re expecting thousand dollar results, you’ll likely have to buy a thousand dollar machine. All that being said, I would put our creations next to anyone’s and challenge someone to find the differences. For the money, this press delivers great capability. Temperature control is satisfactory, pressure adjustments are easy, and it hasn’t failed us yet - though we did buy the extended warranty just in case. Ours runs for hours at a time on some days and has already paid for itself in revenue. We use an IR thermometer to know the hot spots on the heating plate. While it’s pretty even, there are some discrepancies across the plate. Knowing this will assist you in managing your heat application. Use of a good teflon sheet protects your fabrics even more. For sublimation, we use butcher paper to prevent bleed through onto the heat plate. If you’re just getting started, or even have some experience under your belt, this press will be good for the vast majority of your creations. ... show more
