  • A practical guide for consumers with great insights
Agnew has written a guide that I wish was around when I first started wearing glasses. He writes well and provides insights that few, if any consumers would otherwise know about. Podcasters and TV shows should interview Agnew. So many consumers wear glasses and more and more are doing so every day as the population ages. We could all benefit from these insights. ... show more

  • Eyeglasses, hearing aids, time to burst some bubbles
Who doesn't love discovering a good conspiracy? We all know we are being wildly overcharged for certain products like glasses, specialty insurance and hearing aids. Are we happy with that? This book helps us to understand when to pay, what to pay and which providers to avoid--for eyeglasses. This book should be part of a series of books with the next one taking on specialty insurance and then hearing aids. Add your suggested topics here. ... show more

  • Helpful information but will you actually save money buying eyeglasses ? Maybe. Maybe not.
I've been wearing contact lenses and glasses for years and recently decided I needed to move to just wearing eyeglasses. After some initial shopping I found the prices of them in stores are much higher than when I last bought a pair years ago. I was looking for overall tips on how to save money on buying new glasses. From an internet search and not finding really helpful articles online anywhere as to how to save money, I found this e-book and thought well, better give this a shot as there really aren't any better options to obtain the knowledge and the e-book is inexpensive. After reading this e-book fully I say it's most useful to someone who (1) needs to buy glasses for the very first time, (2) if you're considering whether or not to purchase or retain eye care health insurance and (3) if you want to see if you can save money by buying eyeglasses online and how to go about doing that. For those situations, this book will be very helpful. As for me, I was looking to find a way to save money as the glasses I'm interested in getting seem to run in the $400-$500 range and these are not even designer or high fashion glasses. I didn't find the tips in this book will help save me much money on buying eyeglasses. That is not be the fault of the author as it's just like everything else with healthcare related expenses these days: you're going to overpay from these industries that are focused on profits above people anymore. As we find out in this book, this also includes the eye care industry. The author explains very well all the available options these days for glasses and whether or not he thinks they're worth the money and what the likely price should be for these options. However, unless you're willing to do a lot of comparative pricing, forego fitting with a professional in person, and have all the required dimensions and prescription information, then you're still going to pay a lot for dealing with a brick and mortar, in person experience at an optician/optometrist place to get your glasses. Do you want to deal with going back and forth with a website to get correct vision and well fitting glasses? It really depends on how simple or complicated your vision needs are. It depends on whether or not you know the styles of glasses that look good on you or feel you can trust the virtual try on experience. Anyways as I wrote this review it has come to me that for many people, this book is going to be helpful. My vision needs are not average and I'm probably still going to be overcharged for what I do need and there's no getting out of it. P.S. It's interesting to note that some of the information obtained in this book can be found for free on the author's business website. Also, it's noted that while the author says it's overrated and unnecessary to purchase an option for blue light minimization with eyeglasses, his company still offers that option on their website. So, no problem offering the same upsell options claimed that we don't really need ? ... show more

  • Saving on eyeglasses
Absolutely true if retail stores and Dr.’s offices came down in their prices they could increase their business. Customers would buy multiple pairs and not need to pay for vision plans which forces practitioners to increase their prices.
