  • Excellent for walking, with some minor annoyances
I’m a 66 yr old 5’8” 155# active male who uses a treadmill for brisk walking, so evaluate what I say accordingly. I came to this after years of using a a powered treadmill that finally died. The new powered treadmills all seem to take up a lot more space than my old one, so I decided to try the manual alternative. There’s a lot to like about this treadmill: Packing was excellent, no loose or broken parts, well strapped yet opened easily. Assembly was modest and straight forward, instructions were largely accurate and the slight inaccuracies were obvious. A couple of holes were not perfectly aligned, but a little jiggling solved that. The thing is light enough that I can move it comfortably myself, but a helper made mounting the leg extensions a lot easier. After that it was completely stable and the rest of the setup was easy enough. In use the belt started out well aligned and has stayed there after 6 weeks of daily use, no adjusting needed. Recently I decided that even the lightest resistance was a little too much, so I adjusted the magnetic “brake” cable, an easy enough chore. I cover the display with a tablet computer for entertainment so I can’t speak to its accuracy, but all the functions including pulse measuring seem to work OK. This treadmill is so much quieter and more compact than my old powered unit – quite a nice change. And I’m getting good workouts, I think. It’s like a steady uphill climb. The long “arms” extending along the sides give good protection from straying off to the side and are excellent grips for getting on and off, helped by the excellent non-slip strips along the sides of the bed. The three-step incline adjustment is very simple and easy. 6 weeks of use have revealed some small problems: I have to hang on to the arms to keep a steady pace (I think that’s universal with manual treadmills). The problem is that the padded portion of the arms is too far back. Using the pulse sensors puts me in position to fall off the end so I don’t use ‘em. For me the natural grip point is where the upright meets the arms, some inches forward of the padded grips. There’s a bunch of arm mounting hardware there so I’ve had to pad it myself. When the bed folds up this thing is really compact and the simple latch works fine. The problem is that when the bed is in operating position it needs to be secured by a threaded knob with about an inch of threads that run into a lock mechanism down near floor level. And don’t just leave off the threaded knob: it makes a huge difference in overall rigidity and safety. Not a big deal, just an annoyance that causes me to leave the bed down most of the time rather than fold it after use every day. Even after adjusting the magnetic brake, I’m not sure the belt is really running freely enough even on its lowest setting. It’s work walking on this thing. I know that’s the point, but I’d like to be able to adjust from hard work to light work with the nicely mounted adjuster knob. That just won’t happen for me the way this is designed: no cool down, just on or off. Hopefully this’ll change as I get stronger. This is by no means a deal breaker, just an annoyance. I’d love to have a shelf on the console to hold my tablet for watching videos while I walk, but there is none so I worked up a kludge with some bungee cords. The console angle adjusters seem pretty weak, like they won’t stand up to any abuse. Don’t grab the console to steady yourself, it’ll just slip. All that said, I’m very happy with my choice and don’t miss my heavy bulky powered treadmill at all. And wow! is this a lot cheaper! ... show more

  • After altering it, its fabulous.
I purchased this thinking I could just hop on for 15 min during my morning and afternoon breaks as a WFH. Unfortunately, I didnt realize the incline was so steep. I understand you have to work hard to see results etc but that wasn't my intention- i just wanted to walk, not climb. So i used the additional steps from my workout stepper to lift the back of the treadmill. Theres still an incline but its decreased massively and I feel like Im walking, not climbing. Maybe by summer I'll want to climb, but as of now I love walking on it. ... show more

  • ITs VERY HEAVY and Clunky
My unit was defective in that the gripping foot landing strips were ripped and not entirely on the side panel on the right side. Also, the monitor unit was not able to attach or stay put as the factory did not drill the correct holes. Still, I gave this manual treadmill a decent try with all the defects. The aesthetics are simply not there. It is extremely bulky and metal-y.. It is very clunky. As a functioning manual treadmill, it does work pretty well. I was able to get a slow jog on it...ANd the incline is high but it causes you to lose control of the speed- in my opinion. If you are looking for a treadmill to thrash so to say this one will last. It is very heavy and durable but it is not pretty and overall too clunky and hard to push around because it is sooooo heavy. ... show more

  • Decent no-frills tread mill
I've had this treadmill for about two weeks now and overall I'm pretty satisfied. I am no fitness buff and was solely looking for a small treadmill to bring a little more movement to my life. If you are looking for a hardcore treadmill to run on, this isn't it. I'm about 5'6 and find it's easy to walk on but I do not think it would be easy to run on, I don't think it's long enough for that. I also like the forced incline, it makes the walk a bit more of a challenge. I have not played around with the computer more than to keep track of my time. There's several modes that you can switch between - time, distance, etc - but like I said, I'm not looking for bells and whistles. My biggest dislike so far is that the belt does seem to move to the side if you're not careful. This seems to be a common problem and then instruction book includes a section on how to fix this. So far it hasn't been a huge issue but I do notice it and stop to adjust it at least once per use. The other dislike is that this is meant to be a foldable treadmill but it's not easy to do. You'd have to undo a lot of the initial set up to fold it up so I've just been leaving it in place. ... show more

  • For a very basic treadmill, it's good
We bought this because we live in a warm climate with lots of pollen for months and it's nice to have the option to stay indoors. We didn't want to get a higher end electric model as we live in an older residence and it might not handle the load. So, we are trying the manual model and so far so good. It arrived in good shape and the only problem seems to be screwing the handles completely down. The screws don't seem to want to go in completely. But, it's useable. It seems sturdy and worked right out of the box. The only criticism I have is the handles and it's at a sharper incline than I would choose. But, others have put a board under the back to raise it a bit. I paid around $200 for this and I think, so far, that's a good deal. ... show more

  • Not enough tension
The media could not be loaded. Works fine, but I just wish the tension would have been greater. I find I have to walk 3-4 mph on the flattest incline just to stay on if I don’t want to have to hold onto the rails. And I have to run to stay on if I’m on the steepest incline. My intention was to be able to browse on my laptop while walking but I find I have to hold on with at least on hand at all times even on the flattest incline So I’ll just have to use it as a high intensity workout instead of a casual stroll Shipping was great and assembly was practically nonexistent since all I had to assemble were the two legs and a couple of stabilizer bolts. Folds up nicely by simply loosening 3 bolts and tugging on a king pin Not sturdy enough for my dad who has balance issues and tends to sway side-to-side ... show more
